To our 4th consecutive bowl season (the first in our history.)

To our 4th victory over Oregon

To keeping our home winning streak going.

To Gameday making its first appearance in Pullman.

To Tom Pounds who created a tradition that people across the country try to duplicate but can never match.

To the fans at the game who created one of the best atmosphere’s I can remember.

To Minshew, James Willians, Harris, Patmon, Woods, Thompson, the o line , the d line and all the players who made this game memorable.

We are on our way back home, but.....wherever we go we always find our way back home....

Quick thoughts

Gameday was amazing. I got there early wife brought the little ones by. It was crowded lots of people were leaving in and out. Reece Davis shouting holy sh*t was great. It was a lot of fun. I think my ears are still ringing from Corso putting on the butch head. It was amazing, but it was cold but it did warm up.

The pre game festivities were great although the kids needed a nap as did I before we got to the game. Martin was rocking. I don’t know if people at home could tell but it was crazy loud that first half. (It got loud again in the 4th) but early on there was so much energy. Oregon couldn’t even snap the ball.

The team was great, Molton still has trouble with man press it seems, but the refs did seem to be ticky tacky penalizing us. But I am bias.

James Williams is a beast. Minshew is amazing, even in the 3rd quarter when the offense sputtered you just got this feeling he was going to take over.

Travell Harris is scrappy like Calvin is. He was a difference maker.

The defense is fantastic except for our man press. I know it is their first year doing it but geez guys don’t make it THAT easy for them.

Apparently we are good for at least 1 special teams blunder per game. I would like that fixed.

At the end of the game a couple students were debating to storm the field. I told them to go that they only get these moments a few times in their life.

My wife laughed and said “don’t encourage them”. I said if they didn’t I would. She laughed and asked if I was finally happy when we won the game and if this is what I always wanted.

I said not yet. A Rose Bowl win.

It and an Apple cup victory are the final pieces to the puzzle.

But up first Stanford.

Go Cougs!

(Also sooooo many mustaches)

All good points!

I want to add that there were no cars tipped over, no violence, no burning of sofas or furniture on Colorado Avenue, at least that didn't make the headline news.

No spitting on Duck fans, or objects thrown on the field.

We simply showed class, as GameDay will indeed be back because of our stellar hospitality, atmosphere, and all of the above.

A couple more for those who had to watch on TV
Oregon’s strength coaches are trying way to hard. There are shirt sizes bigger than medium and a mustache is cool when it’s off the cuff (see GM...)
Pac 12 refs continue to embarrass themselves. Just expect it every week.

With that thought why is it so hard to have some sort of consistency with PI calls? I’m not arguing ours weren’t, but there were three other obvious PIs on Oregon during critical points in the 2nd half that weren’t called (2 on defense and one on offense, one being the pick on the deep ball). We played like shit in the third quarter but those plays make it a helluva lot easier for a team to get back in the game.

Every team we play going forward is going to emphasize knocking down passes rather than rushing the passer. Once Oregon started doing that they were killing our drives.

I noticed the Oregon DL seeemed to stop engaging our OL and were trying to time Minshew's passes later in the game. That's a credit to our OL because they seemed to bail a bit from getting pressure on Minshew but the tipped passes have been a bit of an issue.

Their strength coach is a bit of a cartoon character but a perfect representation for the Duck program. I am not saying he isn't good at his job because I assume he is a good S&C coach. It's just the "please look at me" nature of the Duck program at every possible angle.

It seemed to me that they kinda gave up on the pass rush and just put hands up in passing lanes. It was pretty smart but not that great.

Their defensive changes only seemed effective. The truth of the matter is we suck at third quarter. If defenses want to try stopping us by hanging back and blocking our passes, well that's just more than 50 percent stupid.

Except it worked. Which means we should expect it more and be ready to adjust. It’s sort of a desperate strategy but minshew is tough to sack so why not when it works. Just hope they expect that as a strategy going forward and are prepared for it.

I was there too and firmly agree with your assessment regarding the atmosphere. If those prospective commits visiting this weekend do not jump aboard the bandwagon, they better have a good reason. Academics, geography, something other than football. I don't care where else they visit, they will not see anything like what Martin showed them Saturday.

Since the game was sold out, the school provided access to Bohler where the game was shown on the screen. Admission was free and when I wandered past there more than two hours prior to kickoff there were at least a couple of thousand waiting in line for the doors to open.

Found somewhat interesting the number of "mixed" marriages or families with one spouse sporting one school's colors and the other spouse or one of the offspring showing the other colors.

Overall the finest experience I have had in Martin with the final score being the cherry on the top.

But, how many times did it work? I seem to remember like 4? That's still a low percentage.
It may work sometimes with the trajectory of the ball coming out on the shorter routes, but if they are going to give Minshew all day like that then he can counter by going deep. They can't block the ball at the LOS then. The trajectory of the ball is too steep.

We scored 7 effen points in the 2nd half! And GM had like 5 passes batted down. I’m not upset about the result I’m just saying they made a conscious effort to do that in the 2nd half rather than try to get to minshew and it was clearly effective. How can you argue otherwise? 7 points after 27 in the first half.

There are multiple reasons we scored only 7 points in the 2nd half. We also only scored 1 touchdown in the second half against Utah and I don't recall many passes batted down at the LOS. I am not completely disagreeing with you -it was sometimes a problem yesterday and I noticed it a couple times in the WYO and U$C game too. But, ultimately it's not a good high probability strategy for a defensive team to give up on the pass rush and resort to that. There are also things that can be done to counter it--we should do those things.

Its amazing how little attention has been paid to the fact we are bowl eligible in the 3rd week of October. If you think of how many seasons we were eliminated by this point....
