Or what the thoughts are moving forward? When is the news conference? Or since it is internal are we just not going to do that?

Press conference is Thursday. No clue about the staff. Eric Morris is rumored to be the OC. I could see not too much of a change up on defense. Banker coaching safeties and being the DC. We need a DT coach. I can see Dickert keeping Malone as cornerback coach. He has only small school experience, but talking to people that know coaches that coach at those type of schools they know more about the fundamentals of football than an P5 coach because they are so limited in who they get it it's all about technique to them. The question is will he be able to recruit here? I have no clue on the offensive side of the ball. If it's Morris, I'll assume he'll get to pick his own staff probably.

Not true about Malone.

I think it will be quiet for a while, a lot of staff changes through out the country, guys are going to wait for opportunities or jump at a great offer. Plus is there will be a lot to choose from, the negative is the good ones will have a lot of options. I think we might have to sit tight for a while, but I hope I am wrong. I'd like to think we have a chance at great OC knowing he has 3 years to work with JDL, he has a lot of raw talent, if someone can fix a few things this offense could be very explosive.

Based on his resume Id keep Malone as a d quality control guy. Richardson is the one who laid the foundation of the solid corner play. Plus we had some really talented corners. Talent always makes coaching look good. For example DeLaura made Smith look like a good OC.

My only hope regarding assistants, other than having guys that can coach and recruit, is that we have some money available to retain the guys we want. I do not want us playing the role of farm team for the rest of the league.

“Come to Pullman so we can prepare you for your Oregon pay day!” Does not work for me.

WSU assistant Mike Price bailed for Missouri with Warren Powers when he lost head job to Walden. (Not sure Walden wanted a potential successor on his staff).

It is also a problem when an assistant has no ambition (Levenseller among several)

Robert Barber case help lead to the most recent Oregon exodus.
