13th lowest in the nation. Oregon?Welp... Just goes to show as one of the most well funded schools in the nation, even they can't retain their coaches. It has to be living in Oregon. I know I wouldn't want to pay those taxes.
Don't confuse him with facts.13th lowest in the nation. Oregon?
Maybe he likes pumping his own gas?13th lowest in the nation. Oregon?

weird flex but i would be fine with never pumping my own gas againOops, looks like we're confused about who is confused.
Since one also must pay local taxes, and 60% of Oregonians live in PDX metro, its effective average state-local tax rate is 11.1%, which is higher even than Washington, and is the 11th highest in the US, not the 13th lowest. Edit: this is a total state number, although it's undoubtedly higher in PDX).
Plus, you're one of 2 remaining states not trusted to pump your own gas, and you have to share a state with the ultimate jack-fans in all of sports. Go find a Ducks ballcap in PDX and ask them to name at least 3 starters...
There are parts of the state that allow self serve just not in the major population centers and umatilla county.weird flex but i would be fine with never pumping my own gas again
EL Paso is not the greatest place to visit, and traveling across the border to Juarez was fun 30 years ago, under current circumstances is not a good idea. The good news is Alaska Air has direct flights there, you can fly in the day before the game and Fly out that night at 7 and be home at 10 pm, the problem is it is not cheap to fly there, that ticket is about $1600, I would assume there will be charter deals cheaper. However the Sun Bowl has over 80 years of history and has had some good programs come through there, and a majority of the games have been decided by a touchdown or less. Look at the teams that have come thru there in the last 20 years, (see link below) The other plus is the games is on 12/31, gives you something to watch on New Years Eve, it you aren't going there. I wish it was played a little later, but it has always been a midday game.
Also being on the 31st, it give the coaches time to recruit and get in extra practices, this team needs both. Also the Sun Bowl is better than no bowl, at the end of September this team was 1-3 and things were looking bleak, they turned it around and made it to a bowl. There are 6 teams in our conference going to a bowl and 6 that aren't, I glad we are 1 of the 6 that are going to a bowl. One more game against a quality opponent will do this team good. Had we simply beat Utah St and one other team along the way, our bowl options would be much better, but we are what we are.

Add to that the easy recruiting market. You can focus all but one or two assistants within your own state. My guess is the fact he's from Miami and his mom is ailing, combined with the opportunity to bring Miami back to national relevance is the draw.
I also think it's easier to win in the ACC than some other conferences. Given the fact that automatic bids are on the table for conference champs, and the PAC-12 is a tough conference, I can see the draw/appeal personally. USC, on paper, just got better.
He was born in Miami. He was raised in Miami. He went to high school in Miami. He played football at the University of Miami. His mother is sick and lives in Miami. My guess is the fact he's from Miami and his mom is ailing, combined with the opportunity to bring Miami back to national relevance is the draw.

I take everything out of the Canzano camp with a grain of salt. THAT sounds like a WDWHA for CMC, in my opinion.Sounds like Mario might have burned the Phil Knight bridge when he didn't immediately accept UO's more-than-generous extension over the weekend. Knight immediately pulled the 10-year, roughly $80 milllion deal and left Cristobal with really one choice– go to Miami. Yes, he was still under contract but with a miffed Uncle Phil, it wasn't going to be easy to stay in Eugene. Mario still gets a great deal and gets to go home. I honestly can't understand why he was such a hot commodity.
On another note.....the first commitment has bailed. 4-star quarterback from State of Alabama. Of course, the Oregonian immediately reported that he was the "lowest rated" QB recruit that Oregon has brought in since Cristobal came to UO after gushing all over the recruit when he first committed. (WDWHA?)
Early names being circulated for the Duck job: (of course) Matt Campbell, Dave Aranda, Chip Kelly, Justin Wilcox, Jeff Tedford, and, yes, Urban Meyer.
Glad Cougar
With Canzano, if it is about Oregon, I agree.I take everything out of the Canzano camp with a grain of salt. THAT sounds like a WDWHA for CMC, in my opinion.
self service gas has been on the ballot mor than once over the 35 years I have been in Oregon, never came close to passing. Trust has nothing to do with it, we don't want to pump ourselves and put all of those people out of jobs so the oil companies can make more moneyOops, looks like we're confused about who is confused.

Love it.. A moron who thinks a vaccine that doesn't stop the spread or infection of Covid, should be mandated on here trying to be cute. Maybe to your fellow inmates that might work but on here, you're put on blast.Don't confuse him with facts.
Oregon's sales tax per capita is 2627 and Washington's /...2863. It must be all those gas attendant salaries and the taxes they pay keeping it TPC slightly lower.Oops, looks like we're confused about who is confused.

The tax system in the state of Washington has nothing to do with the "suffering" in Seattle schools.Oregon's sales tax per capita is 2627 and Washington's /...2863. It must be all those gas attendant salaries and the taxes they pay keeping it TPC slightly lower.Anyway, the OP made it sound like it was so much higher. Oregon's tax system is progressive, so those making pay more and not the same as someone making 1/10th of what they make. The Seattle schools are suffering as a result and those damn Spokane potholes...don't get me started.
remember when they promised that the lottery would fully fund WA schools? The tax system in the state of Washington has nothing to do with the "suffering" in Seattle schools.
All those guys likely are better coaches than Chrissie Poo. Not clear any (other than Urban, who almost certainly isn't going there) could recruit at the same level or better, but the dropoff wouldn't be that great for some of the others.Sounds like Mario might have burned the Phil Knight bridge when he didn't immediately accept UO's more-than-generous extension over the weekend. Lived in WA and OR.weird flex but i would be fine with never pumping my own gas again
I would be surprised if Campbell or Aranda went to Oregon. That would be a lateral move for them at best.Sounds like Mario might have burned the Phil Knight bridge when he didn't immediately accept UO's more-than-generous extension over the weekend. Not even close to a lateral move, especially Iowa State.I would be surprised if Campbell or Aranda went to Oregon. That would be a lateral move for them at best.

This.No offense to Iowa State, but that is not a "lateral move". Do you know how many 10 win seasons that Iowa State has had in school history? You remember every one of them because the answer is zero.....zip......nada......zilch.
They are a decent program that is arguably on the rise and with the departure of OU and Texas, they are one of the bigger fish in the Big 12 pond......but Iowa State football isn't worthy of holding Oregon's jockstrap when it comes to program prestige and positioning. 2020 was only the third time in school history that they finished ranked in the Top 25 and their one and only Top 10 finish.
Oregon is one of the few schools in the Pac-12 (along with WSU) that hasn't routinely fired head coaches. Helfrich is the only coach that they've fired in the last 40+ years. Iowa State has fired almost every coach that they've had in the same time frame (Duncan, Criner, Walden, McCarney and Rhoads). Chizik is the only coach that they didn't fire and he would have been canned if he hadn't jumped to Auburn when he had a chance.....where he got fired after four seasons.
When Walden was fired from Iowa State he said, "If you stay at Iowa State, you're going to lose and you're going to get fired. That's very evident." So yeah, it's not a lateral move. Iowa State finished 7-5 this year after starting with high expectations. Much like David Shaw at Stanford, he may end up not being a hot commodity for long.
They're buying Meth and handing it out like candy in their "Safe Injection" sites. Found sleeping on the sidewalk? Meth to help you stay awake for 3 straight days. And people say Seattle isn't doing anything to solve the homeless crisis.remember when they promised that the lottery would fully fund WA schools?
Wonder what they're doing with those billions of weed dollars?
