AP Poll...

Both polls...# 20

Yep. #20 in the Coaches poll as well. Nothing wrong with this. Keep winning, which should be easy (cough) and we will keep slithering up as others lose. As said elsewhere, mutts (barf) and TT winning doesn't hurt. BJC and Trucking School as well.

Other than Clemson I don’t see a team ahead of us that doesn’t deserve to be. The 5 teams directly ahead of us will all lose again. It gets tricky after that to jump into CFP territory as we’d need some teams to lose twice or some other random chaos. If we win out I see us at 13. Win our bowl and finish top 10. That would be phenomenal, schedule be damned.

Agree that a CFP berth isn't really all that likely. Ole Miss, Iowa State and LSU losing this week would be all right. Don't sleep on KU. They are better than their record shows. If those three lose, we get up to #17. Army losing to Notre Dame gets them out of the way. Texas A&M probably loses to Texas after that. That puts us at #15 heading into the Championship week. The ACC is likely to lose a competitor ahead of us and Army could lose as well.

That would put us at #13. It's hard to picture us higher than than that. If USC were to upset ND in that last weekend, that might put us at #12. If Boise State is #10 or #11 and BYU wins out....that might mean we get the pleasure of getting our butts handed to us in the first round of the CFP...but again....I just don't see that happening and frankly, I'd bet the committee leaves us out anyway. And as Coug90 said, 12-1 and finishing #10 would be phenomenal.

Honestly, I do not believe Army deserves to be ahead of us. They have not played a division one school with a winning record. Most of the teams they have played are just plain bad.

They don’t. ND is the independent that gets taken, win out though and it will be close

The random teams showing up in the top 20 and the respect given to smaller teams this year seems like something the playoff will promote to draw interest, like the Cinderella’s in basketball. Ironically I think WSU is in just as good or better position to make the playoffs now than in the old PAC

If the Pac-12 were still around, it would be a one bid league with Oregon getting the spot....so you are spot on with your comment. At least now we have a chance.

The one thing about NIL and so many transfers, it will help the military academies. They still will not be as good as the top schools, but they will be able to keep their teams together without worrying about players leaving. So, they will be able to compete in their leagues more than they have in the past.

This is like heaven!
Bye week and moving up in the polls. Colorado was one below us and had a bye week and dropped. It was all about the TT win (and a little bit the UW win), and we are sort of riding their coattails, for this week at least...

Best poll.
