Wow, didn't army jump from 25?

Lots of opportunities to jump ahead in the next few weeks. I see 4 teams that could stumble while the Cougs won't be one of 'em. That's all I have to say about that.

Let me lead with that I don't think we are CFP worthy team....but the money for appearing ($4 million + $3 million for expenses) along with exposure is something that you don't turn down. I've looked pretty hard and I just don't think we can get into the Top 12 though.

As far as opportunities to go up in the polls, Colorado has to play Utah and Kansas. Utah gave BYU hell and KU is recovering from their mid-season funk. It will not be surprising to see the Buffaloes go down.

Pitt fell out of the conversation with their loss this weekend so they aren't a factor, but an upset over Clemson would help us in the polls.

KSU likely has another loss in their schedule to keep them below us.

Army was 25th in the CFP ranking but higher in the polls. They play ND in a couple weeks and that would put them out of the conversation altogether and below us in the rankings. They have even less of a chance at the playoff than we do regardless.

Texas should knock Texas A&M off in a few weeks.

A Georgia loss to Tennessee might put us above them.

If all of the above happens, that gets us up to about #14 in the polls. If Miami did us the favor of gacking against Syracuse, we might get to #13. It's hard to imagine a scenario at this point where we can get into the CFP though.

The huge size of the B1G and SEC means that their contenders rarely face one another so they are going to have multiple 10-2 (or better) contenders for spots and we aren't getting in above any of them. Indiana is the only team that I could see getting snubbed. Barring a bunch of upsets, we'll just have to hope that our team stays together for the bowl game and we can snag a Top 15 finish. that would still be pretty cool.

The one scenario - in addition to what you mention - that helps us the most is if BSU gets upset. They have SJSU, Oregon state, and Wyoming left (only the beavers on the Smurf turf), so it’s not impossible. And in reality, if Jeanty twists an ankle walking across campus and can’t go….theyre a very beatable team.

We still need a ridiculous amount of help, and I’d actually say we don’t deserve a CFP spot, but somehow the stars align and we’re offered…there’s no way we turn it down.

It really hurt that Colorado beat TT. That is our best win at this point, and the hardest game left on Colorado's schedule. It really is such a surreal situation, where we are solid favorites to win the rest of our games and we are basically just rooting for these other teams to lose. And we need the teams below us to lose too, because a solid P4 win could leapfrog any of them over us.
