Marcus Griffin was a highly-touted 4-star recruit at Bellevue, where he played with Justus Rogers. Took official visits to WSU, California, Mississippi State and Arizona as a prep prospect, so the Cougs have been on his radar for a number of years.

Could be even more talent for Tracy Claeys and Jeff Phelps to plug into the "Speed D" next season.

Agreed, Ferris. I recall him being extremely pompous and made a spectacle of himself on Twitter when he went with UA. Plus, it's kind of peculiar how such a highly-touted four-star recruit couldn't break into what was a remarkably bad Arizona defense.

Not sure this is the guy to help. Bit of an attitude unless he's grown up a lot.

OK, was not familiar with those allegations, Thanks,

Did find Griffin had legitimate connections to WSU dating back to his days as a blue-chip high school recruit.

Heck, maybe his fiery attitude could help replace some of the guys who've moved on to the NFL?

If memory serves, he decommitted from us to go to UofA.

Marcus never played much at all at U of A. The only thing he could do for WSU is add some depth and maybe give the Cougs six to eighth snaps per half.

Add depth to a position we don’t have depth.
Hard to see how this could be a bad thing. He obviously was once thought to have potential. He has one more year to demonstrate it. It could either be a great find or a waste of a scholarship for one year. Given our lack of depth on the DL it would seem to be worth the gamble.

Just say no. He did not contribute at Arizona. Why does anybody think he would be a contributor at WSU? Why throw away a scholarship on a less than mediocre player?

Besides, he was committed for months to WSU. He spurned WSU at the last minute to sign with Arizona. He was on his Pullman trip with Devante Downs, a Cal signee. If you remember, Downs was sent home early because he was talking a lot of crap against the Cougars to other recruits.

Go find a JC or high school player that has a change to contribute instead of a guy that would keep the bench warm.

A guy who got no playing time and does not want to stay with his team is not P5 material. Sorry. Just not.

The juco the cougs are after, has another trip scheduled after his visit. The last trip to the favorite may not bode well for the cougs

4 Tackles & 1 Assist In 3yrs At Arizona

Maybe Griffin wasn't a fit for UA's defensive scheme?

Coach Claeys was known for the getting the best out of Minnesota's defensive talent, so maybe he could get some solid contributions from a former (Brand X) 4-star recruit who CML pursued four years ago?

Why do you keep going back to his Scout ranking from 4 years ago? First off, he was a "4 star" with legit offers from WSU, Cal, Arizona & Miss St. That sound like a legit 4 star to you?

Scout was wrong on him. He's spent 4 years proving that.

"Maybe he was a bad fit at Arizona". "Maybe Claeys could get something out of him". Or, maybe he just isn't a Pac 12 player.

He'll probably go FCS, as he should, and we'll find a much better risk to spend a scholarship on.
