AZCentral: No more Big-12 additions....

If true, Stanford is on the clock to see what their next move is. Currently it looks like rebuilding the PAC is choice 4 or 5.
1. BIG
2 ACC
3. Independent
4. Ivy League or Drop Football
5. Rebuild PAC

Rebuild. We'll be an old money member. Pacific Conference still has some panache. The four remaining schools should pick institutions and locations that keep the original four happy. It's a balance, and God help the Bay Area schools for their arrogance (it's not like the wanted us or OSU in expansion).

Honestly though, there are more pressing issues in the world. Like the inevitable Civil War 2.0. I'm sad, but kind of excited to light up some slap-happy Seattle cupcake with one of the AR-15's in my "tiny dick" arsenal. Would certainly make strolling to an M's game through Pioneer Square a happier experience.

Meh. Talk of civil war is overblown. Most Americans care just enough to complain about just about everything, but not enough to do anything about it. Certainly not anything that will cost them anything tangible.
And, the ones who do care enough are the ones with all the guns. So in the unlikely event it turns into an actual fight….it’ll be over quickly.

Why use guns? Use a virus. They wont wear a mask or take a vaccine. It’ll be over quick.

Edit to add…

There is a significant percentage of the US population that will refuse to take a vaccine or wear a mask…. if there were a terrorist organization wanting to attack the US, a virus would kill a lottt of people. Quickly. Without firing a shot. Having a lot of guns may not be the tool that tips the scales.

A mask or vaccine won’t save anyone and the numbers have shown that…. But ok I guess.

Viruses are bad weapons. Once they’re released, you can’t control them. If you’ve got a cure or vaccine, someone else can make it too. If it kills too fast, it won’t spread. And if it mutates, maybe your vaccine doesn’t work.

Agree. And it makes guns useless.

Science isn't stupid...it's pretty cut and dried about XX and XY. Always impressive how the same group that will label Covid criticism as scientific ignorance will scream at you that a man can pass a bowling ball through his pelvis and you're a literal Nazi for claiming otherwise,

The west coast really needs to be nuked, for it's own sake.

Everyone during COVID: Trust science!

Trans / Non-binary community: Not so fast.
This is great news and a nail in the right direction.

Rebuild and Poach.

We know there's no way in a million years Stanford or Cal would go to the Mountain West.

So....

Rebuild and Poach.

This is the best news of the month!

And we have until 2026 to get to 8 teams!

Under NCAA rules, yes. But the other P5 conferences could pull our P5 status before then.

1. WSU: Seattle metro and the State of Washington
2. OSU: Portland metro
3. Stanford: Northern California
4. Cal: Northern California
5. SDSU:: Southern California
6. SMU: Dallas
7. Boise St.: State of Idaho

Note: Nobody cares about the UNLV Rebels. The locals don't care. Only some students and grads care.

So, if we scratch UNLV, who gets the # 8 slot?

Great sounding idea to rebuild and poach, instead of either merging into MWC, or MWC merging into PAC.

But a problem is that only can poach the best G5 programs like SDSU, Memphis, USF, SMU, and not even the worst P5 programs, unless, except ACC leftovers, IF that happens, or happens in time, or IF P5 programs KICK out programs like Vandy, Iowa St, Rutgers, Northwestern, the WSU, OSU types, etc.

It might theoretically be possible that maybe a rebuilt PAC could poach a Iowa St, Vandy, Rutgers, etc, but it would be a LONGSHOT.

That's not to say that I then don't think the PAC should rebuild.

I think the PAC should at least TRY to rebuild with SDSU, SMU, Memphis, USF, Tulane, BSU, Fresno St, UNLV, Gonzaga, etc, the BEST G5's, and then TRY to get Vandy, Iowa St, Rutgers, etc, and try to get ACC LEFTOVERS, etc.

UAB, and FAU, types, etc, need not apply.

If the PAC does that, they retain P5 status, 1,2 CFP spots, 1,2 NY6 spots, about a 16 to 18 to 20 mil per team deal.

#8 Memphis

#9 USF

#10 Tulane.

#11 Gonzaga(Bball only)

#12 FRESNO ST

Utah St, UNLV, CSU are possibilities IF you expand to a PAC 14 to PAC 16, with just only the best G5's.

But if you want a chance at ACC LEFTOVERS , or at VANDY, IOWA ST, RUTGERS, etc, then you have to reserve room for them, or else you may have to KICK OUT to make room.

While you can goto 16 to 18 to 20, that just dilutes things down.

If going to add one of the 3 of Utah St, UNLV, CSU, then you add UNLV.

And if you add #13 UNLV, then it's really still the PAC 12, with #13 being the bball only Gonzaga, with the Rebuilt PAC 12 having a conference championship, for more CFP, NY6 semi credibility, strength of schedule, etc.

If do that then you can still add Vandy, Iowa St, Rutgers, ACC LEFTOVERS later, IF it works out that way

And if not, if doesn't work out that way, then can still add Utah St, CSU, Appalachian St NDSU later to goto either PAC 14 to PAC 16.

But for now you stop at PAC 12 to PAC 14 and don't goto PAC 16 to PAC 18, etc, until IF later.

If Stanford would tolerate them - Fresno.

And they shouldn’t be.

Someone reported here last week that UNLV has built a lot of their new facilities based on private donations. If that’s true…someone cares.

Utah state or Colorado state as #8.
I’ve been saying this for a while, UNLV will get a lot more interest if/when they are in a P5 conference. Might not be the best comparison but only one I can think of off the top of my head: TCU was in the MWC, did anyone care about them? Vegas isn’t the same market Dallas is but UNLV is the only college game in town, they have 2.5X the enrollment as TCU, and one of the best stadiums in the country now. I think they could ride some of the marketability of the raiders being new as well…there’s plenty there to like, the conference and the school would just have to do it’s job to build momentum in that market.

I thought about Utah State but they are clearly 3rd fiddle in Utah. Seems like it would be similar to looking ay Eastern here.

USU is way >EWU
Twice the students, Land Grant U, not a commuter school etc. still hope we could do better then them if rebuilding.

It’s up to Stanford, but Boise St should be on the short list. The Boise area is booming as is the school. Very solid football. I live in Eastern Wa and have a daughter going to college this year (today). Way more of her friends are going to BSU than any other U by far. They’d also be good rivals with WSU and OSU.

The hate is already there, so…

People are going there because it’s easy to get in and is…less than rigorous academically.

Their market is growing locally but has a low ceiling. SMU, CSU, USU, UNLV, SDSU, and Fresno (at least) have greater market growth potential that Boise.

And, I hate them almost as much as UW & UO.

UNLV has some outstanding new facilities, plus they play in Allegient stadium, basketball in Thomas and Mack and they have a great baseball complex. UNLV is investing in their future, and they have protentional. They have a student population of over 30,000, and is a Tier 1 school. Don't underestimate UNLV, plus it makes for a fun road trip.

UNLV Football complex.

That's fair. Good point. One thing to remember. Bring your wallet when you go!

No more $10.99 breakfast buffets!

If you go off the strip, there are plenty of deals to be had. Hopefully, the competition there will drive down prices on the strip. Highly doubtful but its possible I suppose.

Any shortlist HAS TO INCLUDE Memphis, USF, SMU, in addition to SDSU.

SDSU, SMU, Memphis, USF are the BEST 4 G5'S ON THE PLANET.

They all have TOP football programs, and bball programs, except for USF who one of best football program, but bball is not as good.

They all not only have the best, biggest city TV markets, but they also have high potential TV ceiling.

And those 4 programs have awesome facilities, great financial support.

In fact Memphis, USF RIGHTLY already view themselves as P5, and both Memphis, USF have been OH SO EXTREMELY CLOSE TO GETTING INTO EITHER THE BIG EAST, ACC, SEC, etc, AND THEY ARE DYING TO BE IN A P5 conference.

Memphis, USF is BIGTIME.

And they will make it so that PAC keeps P5 status, and 1 CFP spots, 1 NY6 spot, and about a 15 to 20 mil per team media deal.

Memphis, USF IS TCU or the Next TCU's, when they get into a P5.

And USF is like UCF that went to Big 12.

And they make the footprint from COAST TO COAST.

It DOES NOT MATTER that they in China, as Memphis, USF, SMU, Tulane can be in the Eastern Division.

WSU fans should maybe pump the brakes when talking about market reach. Yes, our viewership ratings have been strong over the recent years, but there is legitimate concern about future ratings.

How engaged will our fans be in a new conference where our biggest games will be against Boise State, Oregon State, and San Diego State? More importantly, how tuned in will our base be when we play Colorado State, Texas State, Temple, San Jose State?

I hear a lot of chest pumping about how WSU should never play another Apple Cup, especially if it's moved to annual event in Luman Field in Seattle. I disagree with that logic. More than ever, as much as it sucks, WSU would be incredibly foolish to turn their backs on an annual September Apple Cup at Seahawk Stadium. More than ever, we need to establish our program in the Seattle market. Media companies demand those types of games, and it's their world now.

Seattle games suck. They invested the infrastructure in Pullman...use it.

Good point. Never considered that perspective. We all have knee jerk reactions. If we remain Power 5, I'm okay with playing the AC in September. Only if we remain Power 5.

I disagree with Luman. Even thought it's in a big stage venue...nothing shows the COUGS and our culture better than a game in Pullman and our stadium...especially in September.

Instead of the TV network showing off our little quaint on-campus Ice Cream and Cheese Shoppe.....all the sudden, they're throwing fish at Pike Place Market! In addition, they're showing the Space Needle and the waterfront Ferris Wheel instead of the wheat fields, Steptoe Butte or Bryan Hall.

And remember, there are no tents with heroin, meth or fentanyl addicts in downtown Pullman.

Main Street USA...a dedicated college town, without addicts....unlike the U-District, where most of the retailers have left.

NCW, what's this about?

Are WSU, UW, Eastern etc focusing too much on recruiting out of state students?

What is the attraction for a Boise State experience/degree?

I don't ever see UW coming to Pullman again, and honestly I don't blame them. Once they're in different conferences, what's their motivation to play a road non-conference game in a 32K seat stadium?

For the same reasons we don't play road games at Idaho, Eastern, Montana, etc., UW won't come to Pullman. We can either play them annually in Seahawk Stadium or not at all. That would hurt us a lot more than it will hurt them.

I don't see the networks really caring if the game is in Pullman. The atmosphere is apart of the drama that makes the game exciting. For ratings, I think they welcome the underdog coming out on top. No one turns into a blowout...it's not good TV.
