Bad Boys, Bad Boys, whatcha gonna do?

David French is a prominent conservative commentator, legal scholar, and New York Times opinion columnist known for his vocal opposition to Donald Trump, aligning himself with the "Never Trump" movement.

This is what was linked in a NYT Op-Ed by a former JAG officer eho has prosecuted security breaches and who says that no military officer would survive a security breach like this - it would be a career ending move,

793
(f) Whoever, being entrusted with or having lawful possession or control of any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, note, or information, relating to the national defense, (1) through gross negligence permits the same to be removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of his trust, or to be lost, stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, or (2) having knowledge that the same has been illegally removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of its trust, or lost, or stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, and fails to make prompt report of such loss, theft, abstraction, or destruction to his superior officer—
Career survival is not the same as committing a crime. Trump gets to decide whether they keep their jobs. No idea why Hegseth decided to talk to the media. No upside to doing so at all that I see.

The rub to prosecute Hegseth or Waltz is that one guy (Hegseth) allegedly posted sensitive material to the chat, and the other guy (Waltz) added the reporter. Unless there is caselaw that supports using this chat group at all would constitute gross negligence, difficult one to prosecute, IMO.

And unless it was shown that these two acted in this manner to avoid potential liability under the statute, no conspiracy.

I doubt anyone is in any danger of losing their jobs - Trump and Co were fully aware of the lack of competence in his appointments when he made them so I’m certain he hardly cares about their buffoonery.
In prior times Hegseth would have been fired or forced to resign in disgrace. Who will care are the people that serve in the military under Hegseth - I’m sure there is a huge loss of confidence in him by those people.

The CIA Director testified that Signal was installed on his computer when he took over, same for most CIA officers, Signal is a permissible work use, and that the practice of using Signal had been in place during the Biden administration.

That would be easy to disprove if he was lying.

My overall thought is WTF?

Leave it to WillieDuhInternetPohPoh to melt down about anything and everything. Hyperventilation followed by the swallowing of the proverbial MSM cack makes for "Must-see" message board posting.

You were hyperventilating about signal this morning remember?

Now we find out it just another desperate deep state hoax in an endless stream of hoaxes.

Sad.

Did you see this?

Won’t release it to investigators with security clearances. Wonder why?

It really is enlightening to see how idiotic the MAGA faithful are. The initial question was, "Why don't you publish the chat to the public?". When Goldberg indicated he wasn't going to do that, the interviewer added "to Congressional investigators". Goldberg's answer was related to the original question about releasing information to the public. He never mentioned congress in his follow-up answer because he was answering the first question.

What makes this so hilarious is knowing that absolute sh!tstorm that you would be raising if this happened when Biden was President. You would be demanding accountability and wanting everyone involved in the group chat fired. Since it happened under the Cheeto's leadership......"meh, these things happen" and "That Goldberg is a sleazy f#cker" followed by "But what about how much Biden loved immigrants!"

Then it would be for non-classified communication only but if it was in wide use inevitably someone would screw up. But probably not this egregiously.

Uber is as thick as they come.

Understandably The Atlantic did not want to publish classified information to the general public. But with the Whitehouse and Hegseth calling Goldberg a liar it’s all coming out now.

From the alcoholic man-boy who is in way over his head:

TEAM UPDATE:

“TIME NOW (1144et): Weather is FAVORABLE. Just CONFIRMED w/CENTCOM we are a GO for mission launch.”

“1215et: F-18s LAUNCH (1st strike package)”

“1345: ‘Trigger Based’ F-18 1st Strike Window Starts (Target Terrorist is @ his Known Location so SHOULD BE ON TIME – also, Strike Drones Launch (MQ-9s)"

“1410: More F-18s LAUNCH (2nd strike package)”

“1415: Strike Drones on Target (THIS IS WHEN THE FIRST BOMBS WILL DEFINITELY DROP, pending earlier ‘Trigger Based’ targets)”

“1536 F-18 2nd Strike Starts – also, first sea-based Tomahawks launched.”

“MORE TO FOLLOW (per timeline)”

“We are currently clean on OPSEC.

“Godspeed to our Warriors.”

If only there were laws in place that could hold news sources responsible for false reporting. They could call it “libel”. Oh wait…there is! Fox had to pay Dominion $800 million for lying to their viewers and defaming Dominion…what a concept! So I’m sure we will see a similar lawsuit here soon with the Atlantic since they are clearly lying! Right? Right!?

The one thing I’ll say about Uber is that I’m damn glad he’s a Coug fan. Because we are in the middle of Paul Wulff 2.0 and that dude is bringing his foam finger and showing up early expecting greatness every Saturday with a stadium that’s becoming more empty every week. You’ve got to respect that level of fandom, and if we had 30K more die hards like him seeing a national champion in an 2-10 team, our program would be in great shape!

I do respect that. But he’s still a wingnut.

I have to respect further evidence that he’s delusional?

So, just like The Atlantic correction said.

No “War Plans”

Thanks for the confirmation!

Got it!

I don’t blame you for trying to bury your team overreaction.

QB “yeah look, I know 70-0 sounds bad but we really got screwed by the refs and we were only a few plays away from being in that game. I mean every one of those pick sixes I threw should have been PI. And we probably finish off those drives and the game looks a lot closer than it is!”

Always bad. The timing of this is crazy. The coverup has already begun so who knows if these soldiers were put into additional danger with this clusterfck. If you give two shits about our troops you definitely want a full investigation.
