Beaver game sellout?

I'll be there with the wife. First game back in about 20yrs. Hope to get in at least one beer at the Coug, but won't be shocked if it's too packed.

Yeah, don't be shocked… :D But squeeze in. Worth it just for the memories

Next step to a northwest championship?

As tongue-in-cheek as a "NW championship" has been, it will be a big coming out moment for us when we can actually win it...

I wonder if the athletic department says this to get people to buy early instead of waiting until the last minute.

It's less than 700 now. Part of it is to create urgency...the other part is to let people know that if they wait till the last second they may not get a ticket. So it's both informative and also adding to the hype.

Hate to be a negative Nancy, but a "sellout" in my era of the 80's (USC 1989 for instance) when the stadium held close to 40,000 meant a lot more than a sellout of the 32,000 seats we have now after another 100,000 have graduated from WSU (and yeah probably 20,000 have died).

That must have been awesome seeing the stadium rock with that many fans!

I think Portland State is in the lead right now.....

Well unfortunately we have lost many season ticket holders over the years who now choose to whine and cry on the internet rather than attend games.

I wonder how many old timers are going to ask me to "sit down" during the game. I switched my season tickets to higher up in our section, closer to the stairs (to minimize viewing blockage).

If they do ask if they are at a football game or a symphony.

Believe that's right. A material difference from today, though.

Actually, I believe that when they still had the old wooden stands in the east end zone they said capacity was 40,000. When they took those out and installed the metal bleachers, it went down to 37,600. And went down farther after those came out in favor of the "suite seats".

If so, it wasn't such for long. The only reference I find about "almost 40,000" is on the official Martin Stadium website. They reference 1979 renovations when it grew to such. Funny thing is, they don't actually say exactly how many seats. According to WSU's history of Martin Stadium, it was renovated in 1979, thus totaling 38,600.

The Seattle Times reporter who covered the WSU win over Oregon referred to Portland State as the state of Oregon's other college football program. Ouch, if you're a Beaver.
