I hate that move, and I hate that they try to put it under the mantle of "safety".

The spread has been used for years to compensate for talent gaps some teams have to others. WSU will never have the talent that Alabama has and could never ride a Pro Style system to the crystal football, but by running the spread they can take a 4 win team to a 10 win team (someday). And every year, the far more talented teams cry crocodile tears about "safety" and try to beat these less talented competitors off the field.

Nothing could be uglier IMO than savoring the silver spoon of college football while trying to slap the plastic picnic forks out of everyone else's mouths.

He and Saban are both scumbags for this tripe. Like any other time in football you need to adapt defensively and overcome the offensive inventiveness. It has always been this way, why is it such and issue not, and not with the wishbone, wing T, West Coast, etc? To me it looks like they are just wanting someone else to do their job for them. Reminds me of the famous Spurrier quote when asked about running up the score. "It is not my job to stop our guys from scoring, that is the other guys job" or something close to that anyway.

Believe it or not, I don't think Beilema realizes just how stupid he is making himself appear to be.

I hope he keeps on saying what he is saying. He isn't going to prevail, and it is going to hurt him with some recruits who like that style of play.
