According to Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury-News newspaper:

WSU's president has been elevated to Chairman of the Pac-12's Board of Directors while UW's president is out (lol). The Stanford president Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Arizona president Robert Robbins are on the board but underneath Dr. Schulz

Wilner says these developments are good news for the Pac-12 as the league closes in on its new media rights agreement

"Robbins has vastly more passion for college sports than does Cauce," Wilner said. "In fact, the executive committee now features perhaps the two most sports-savvy presidents in the conference, Robbins and Schulz. The latter serves as the Pac-12’s representative on the College Football Playoff’s board of managers.

Congrats to Dr. Schulz.

Sounds like it's time to "Git-R-Done"

Leaving the board/chairmanship erases conflict of interest for UW President as they try to bolt the conference.

As I've mentioned before, Schulz was the president at Kansas State when they built some of their biggest facility improvements in decades. He has his flaws, but he understands long term planning and the importance of athletics in that planning.

Thanks Flat.

Dr. Schultz's devotion to facility upgrades is going to pay off at WSU with a state of the art IPF, the new locker rooms and LED lights that CJD wants and key stadium enhancements that Biggs, Tron and others have requested.

Also, some experts are predicting Kansas State to the College Football Playoff this season. So, like Flat explained, the current Wildcats coaches and administrators have been able to benefit from the decisions Dr. Schultz made in the "Little Apple" a few years back

You may be reading more into my comments than I intended. The picture below is for improvements planned to go to construction after he left KSU, but they spent hundreds of millions on improvements to the stadium and other facilities while he was president. He's an advocate with the right intentions even if Ellensburg is not in the cards.

Well when he gets off his ass and shores up the PAC you can call me impressed. Until then, not so much.

Geezus. And where the F did/do they get all the money for this? I've never been to Kansas - is the money that good back there?

Lots of passionate, deep rooted (deep pocket farmers) fans that are highly supportive. My uncle is a KSU booster and it was surprising to learn how much he and many other donate to the program.

Reading between the lines from Wilner's quote, it sounds like Dr. Schulz had his hands tied by the "lady" from UW who is no longer in charge.

Now that he's running the show, Dr. Schulz may opt to fast-track the TV deal, go ahead with expansion that you and others of us have been wanting and maybe even extend Klaitkoff's contract for stability's sake

Better yet, fire him. What has he done in 2 years? A: Not a goddam thing.

And here I thought farmers were all poor and going broke. That's what I always heard on the Palouse as they headed to the bank in their brand new pickups..... :)

Farmers are always broke on paper. My brother-in-law is a farmer. He bought so many handguns in one month that he was put on the ATF watch list. They have a ridiculous number of toys that they buy for the farm and every time he gets a little money, he buys more land. They never keep any of their combines or other equipment like that longer than two years. Farmers know how to burn through cash.

To his credit, he's still driving his 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Cummins in it.

IIRC, Tron's thinking with his Ellensburg Stadium concept was more along the lines of the state government (and corporate sponsors) picking up the cost, then using it for the Apple Cup, occasional Seahawks, Mariners and Sounders games, monster truck shows, rodeos, concerts, farming convertions, political rallies, homeless encampments, etc. Sort of an all-purpose facility for the state of Washington and the entire PNW.

Homeless encampment lol! Who’s driving all of them from Seattle?

Back when he pitched it, I didn’t think Tron was thinking at all. It was so ridiculous I figured he must have found the idea at the bottom of a large bottle of wild Turkey or something.

After the last couple years, it’s no longer the dumbest thing I’ve seen here…but it’s still ridiculous.

No, it's still the dumbest. And the most ridiculous. F - we can't even fill 33,000 seat Martin stadium most games. And granted I'm no help. Haven't been back since Gameday. what a day.
