Bob Uecker, the legendary radio voice of the Brewers who had called their games since 1971 and was nicknamed “Mr. Baseball,” died on Thursday, the team announced.

Always liked him, a catcher from a different time...when you could hit .240 and still find work if you could call a game well (he played in roughly the same period as my great uncle, Sammy White). RIP.

Always liked him, a catcher from a different time...when you could hit .240 and still find work if you could call a game well (he played in roughly the same period as my great uncle, Sammy White). RIP.

Actually, Eucker found work for a few years by only hitting .200. But, at least 3 of his 14 career home runs were hit off Hall of Fame pitchers- Sandy Koufax, Gaylord Perry, and Ferguson Jenkins. Eucker worried that his homer off Koufax would keep Sandy out of the HOF. LOL

Bob is "In the front row" now. Rest in peace, Bob- you were a blessing for America!

I think his tip to rookies running the bases was to intentionally knock your own hat off so you look like you're running really fast.
