Bakersfield is one of those places where the field can support baseball in January. Maybe too cold on some of those days, but on a nice day you can get out there. Some disagree, but I've always felt that a start against that sort of team helps jump start a season. Generally the southern team is further along, and that makes for a good catalyst to moving your own team along.
