I would not have expected anything else. I see the cougs ending up somewhere between the 6-10 slot.People believe that the four seniors departing has left the cupboard bare. The "experts" on brand x also have them penciled in at the number 12 slot. We shall soon see. There are a lot of unknowns and "ifs" on this years 'team.

Here is the thing about last years seniors. If we lost that much we wouldnt have finished 10th. Hawk was s great player, but he and Clifford did not compliment each other well. Ike and Callison were decent players but both were terribly inconsistent. Flynn Franks Pollard and Daniels will all be improved. Bernstein is a great addition.

The team had trouble in that Hawk and Conor were poor defensively. Ike is a great athlete but never once did not like a one on five fast break with him leading the charge. The team never really let Flynn be the one leading the team. Players did not always play to their individual strengths. Kent had four seniors whom he had to rely on which was not always a good thing. The team cohesion on both offense and defense was inconsistent and thus inconsistent team play,Hawk and Conor were good offensively but the team rhythm was off due to the guards inconsistent play. it is frustrating to players when all players are not in sync. This years team will be more consistent and play better as a unit. However, they need a couple of consistent scorers to succeed.

12th is about right. The rose colored glasses on here are amazing.

Hawk, Clifford, and Ike are all playing pro ball. Hawk and Connor is the Japanese league. Hawk continues to post double-doubles.

If you think three players that are playing pro (even tho its not NBA) aren't a big loss .... this is amazing.

I guess the dark sun glasses are clouding one s vision.Individually these players had some strengths but collectively they did not mesh well. Kudos to the players landing on their feet. I hope they do well in their respective professional leagues. No, i do not believe that their loss will be felt as much as you think. The only one of these players who could really play defense did not do it on a consistent basis The cougs were not a good defensive team last year.I guess we will see as the season wears on.as how much these players are collectively missed. If the team really had three professional caliber players on the team, they would have done better.

It looks like Coach Kent thinks that the pollsters are way off. He thinks that Franks and Flynn will have big years. He also thinks the trio of red shirts will have a big impact on the team, I believe that Kent feels that this years' team will be way better than last year.

We got blown out a bunch last year. Hawk was a loss, but his effectiveness was limited by having Clifford as a one dimensional back to the basket player.

Well we will see The self appointed " basketball expert",sdcoug on the other board foresees doom and gloom. He sees 5 conference victories at the most with 0 victories possible.. He also sees two wins as being more likely. For some reason,he appears to be a Kent hater and does not miss an opportunity to slam the program. Perhaps he is right? He always tries to find a way out if somehow a miracle happens.Somehow, not his evaluation, they may win if all goes right for his description of the players which he makes sound like an island of misfit toys. We shall soon see.I see an much improved team but i may not know a hole in the ground?

Not sure what the deal is but his disdain for Kent is pretty thinly disguised. He and I use to agree a lot prior to Ernie. Now he is not just a glass half empty guy, but he would argue that even the bottom half is an illusion, and that it really only .499999% full. Stats tell all for some people

i guess that you did not go the open practice tonight? i am wondering if anyone on this board made it?

I believe so. It was open and free to the public. They were also offering free pizza. I heard Kent and he is the master of hyperbole. He is high on Malachi,Aquaah, and ,Franks. He also expects big contributions from Cheatum, and the 6'5 juco small forward. Bernstein has been slowed by an knee injury but is expected back by the start of the season. Kent stated that he will probably have a 10 man rotation this year.. He does expect his team to be much better this year.
