X. Cooper, declaring for draft. Tyler Bruggman, out at Louisville, going to CC. Tim Settle, commits to VT.

I was holding out hope Bruggman would be worth his 4 star rating, but I wasn't that impressied when I watched him against Saint Margarita on ESPN. There weren't that many glowing remarks about him last year in fall or spring ball and now he made it one semester at Louisville? Something is up with him.

I personally believe Cooper would benefit from another year at the college level (and Wazzu would benefit from his presence) but wish him the best. That can't be an easy decision to make -- there are uncertainties with either choice. Good luck to X Cooper!

There's a reason the draft advisory board recommends that anyone not projected as a first or second rounder stay in school. It's a long way to draft day, and projections at this stage don't have much bearing on how high you end up going in the draft. I hope X is one of those whose draft status climbs once the draft "game" begins...

Bruggman: Left two competitive situations. Knew (or should have known; it was obvious) that his second stop was well stocked with QB's, but went anyway. Maybe going to a community college is the best choice for him. Clearly, a competitive FBS program was not in the cards.

Cooper: If you are a sure fire 1st round pick, or even close enough to 1st round that you can count on being 2nd round, then IMO it makes sense to go. But to leave for a 4th round crap shoot? When your draft status would almost certainly be higher next year if you stuck around? I hope X is a good dice player, because he is making a pretty dicey choice.

Settle: Could see this one coming. Not important. The kids who want to be Cougs this year are a darned good group.

Oh, stop it. The kid has his degree. He's leaving school after an amazingly successful college experience and will make more money in his signing bonus than most here made/will make in 10 years coming out of school. Why did you go to college?

I hope he does. You're write as if his combine invite, 3rd/4th round draft pick, and signing bonus is a sure thing though, rather than the projection that it is. There's a big difference between "fact" and "forecast".

Perhaps he has no choice?

As for Tim Settle, yes, no surprise there. WSU would be a long way from home. He rejected USC as well as WSU, so there you have it.

I am definitely ok with Coop taking his shot this year. He is a bit older because of his Grayshirt, and I think he also redshirted the next season so he is 23. If he can get on a team great. I bet he is supported by Coach Joe and CML. Also he can still change his mind by Jan 18th
