Agree with you both, and a good TE can punish the sort of nickel defense that we see so much of these days. One of those offensive positions that justifies 3 LB's. What I especially like about a well used TE, having watched more pro offenses lately, is the way a TE can delay leaving the LOS. No WR can credibly act like they are blocking and then release late, but a TE can put the hurt on a D that discounts him as a receiver if his first move is to make contact on the line.
Of course it remains to be seen how we will utilize the TE this year, but all the talk about the position group's development (which you would expect in year 2) is cause for at least a little optimism.
