Just got back from a Montana ski trip. Much better then a meaningless football game.Nah, just got home from the last weekend of the upland season. Clean up, eat dinner with the family and hang with them.
Big Sky?Just got back from a Montana ski trip. Much better then a meaningless football game.
It was the Montana Snowbowl in Missoula. I have the Indy Pass so I was able to ski two days there.Big Sky?
I just got back, (actually about a week ago) from Colorado, 8 days at Copper. ⛷️
There are 3 resorts on my bucket list that's left.
Telluride
Snowmass
Big Sky

Copper is one of my all time favorites in Colorado. I actually like it more than Vail.It was the Montana Snowbowl in Missoula. I have the Indy Pass so I was able to ski two days there.
I used to live near Glenwood Springs and was able to ski Snowmass all the time. As incredible as snowmass is, Aspen Highlands is even more incredible and I recommend trying that if you ever get to that part of the world. Copper is absolutely fantastic!
My big bucket list item is to get over to Europe and ski the Alps somewhere. We have a former exchange student from Slovakia and he and his family ski so we could get together with them and go to their favorite resort!
Regarding Breck, I don't know. I think it's interesting. The far right side is glacier, nice, but not great. The middle is flat, and for snowboarders. The far left side is sensational. Too me, not enough terrain, if I just love the left side. Great if you're a snowboarder, because the middle of the mountain is super flat.I also like Breckenridge and I skied both Copper and Breckenridge in the late 80’s - early 90’s, really enjoyed both but skied neither when I lived near Glenwood Springs about 20 years ago. I pretty much stuck with Sunlight, Aspen Highlands and Snowmass as my home resorts since they were so close to where I lived. Back in those days you could get a five day pass for the Aspen resorts for about $200 which was an absolute steal and I had a season pass for Sunlight so I had no reason to go elsewhere. The only regret I have was not skiing Steamboat Springs during those years.
I watched it but fell asleep for most of the 2nd quarter. Personally, I despise Notre Dame and had to root for Ohio State but it was definitely the lesser of two evils type decision.
Who won? I was watching jeopardy?Who should we grab in the portal?

Missoula is not Aspen.I can imagine that VRBO and Airbnb are very expensive in that area. The place we stayed in Missoula was like $80 a night and we were on a working farm. Granted we had around 6 hour drive both ways but it was worth it! The next ski weekend we will go on is Mt Baker over president's day weekend. It’s not an Indy Pass resort so I will have to pay for lift tickets but we found a great Airbnb for under $90, out in the woods and with a hot tub.
Flat, were you surprised how well the K-State QB transfer played this fall?
Ohio State is loaded with talent at the skill positions, but he really did a fine job running the show this season. Maybe played himself into a Day 2 or 3 draft puck with his showing in the playoffs?
I understand that Baker and Snowbowl are local mountains and to be honest, that is what I prefer for my skiing experience and that’s why I get the Indy Pass. I mean going to Snowbowl was like going back to the 1980’s with the lodge, the ski lifts and the overall atmosphere. I got into great conversations with employees and the local skiers, skied some great terrain and pretty much had the mountain to myself. I like skiing the local mom and pop places like Snowbowl. To be honest if I still lived in Colorado, I would be skiing places like Sunlight and ignoring other places because they have gotten to corporate and expensive for my blood. I could not imagine spending over $200 for a day lift ticket nor will I buy an EPIC or Ikon pass because I think the corporations behind these passes are bad for the ski industry and culture. But that is just me.Missoula is not Aspen.
A dump of a condo at Snowmass starts at $280 a night. That is a dump. You're looking at $350 to $450 a night for a decent one bedroom, that has a sofa sleeper in the LR.
Nothing in Colorado is cheap for a major destination resort. In addition, most destination resorts in Colorado do not have hotels, except for Vail and Beaver Creek. 3 months a year.....that's it for an owner's high season.
Baker and Montana Snowbowl are local mountains. Yes, you can find $100 rooms all day long, (Bellingham for Baker).
Not apple to apples. Destination Ski Resorts do not have $100 rooms during the winter months.
Don't believe me?

Wait....I just re-ready your post. I thought you said...."I cannot imagine that VRBO and Airbnb is that expensive....."
My bad. You said...."I can imagine". Oh, well. Yeah, Colorado is not cheap....but it's worth it, depending on what's important to you.
I'm not a big Utah fan....and they are not destination resorts, except Park City and Deer Valley.....better snow, (Alta), but I prefer CO.
Baker is a fantastic local mountain...but there is no ski in/ski out, and no high speed quads, (because everything is run off generators) so they have to stay with fixed grips. Still a good time. ⛷️
