Chris Petersen fails to realize Browning doesn't use legs to throw for four years

Great post (and not sure if it’s you, too, but there’s an excellent thread at Brand X also started by a poster named 425 Coug Fan).

Not an expert on how these stories play out in the local and national media, but I tend to agree with those here who say this will be a major roadblock for UW’s quarterback recruiting for at least a few years.

Compare that situation with CML “auditioning” several 4-star QB prospects for the upcoming recruiting class to stack on top of Cooper and Cruz.

Very different situations indeed.

The Huskies have one 5-star slated to start for 2019 and maybe 2020 if he doesn't want to enter the draft just yet. They have another 5-star coming in 2021.

They also have the top QB in Washington from c/o 2018 slated to start after Eason in Dylan Morris... a 4-star.

They picked up 4-star Ethan Garbers in the 2020 class...

Their QB room is so packed that 2x 4-stars transferred out after not getting reps behind Jake Haener, a 3-star midget.

What planet are you living on where you think Jake Browning's noodle arm has any impact on QB recruiting?

He is getting "results" but nobody can make an argument that Petersen has made the most out of the talent that he has had on his team. UW had as many players drafted both in total (8) and in the first 2 rounds (4) as Clemson.

Teams with that amount of draft-able talent should be in the playoff discussion not slip slopping around with a 4 loss season.

Many on the Husky side would argue Jake Browning was the sole reason for not being a playoff caliber team the last 2 seasons.

The talent was there to get it done... but the Huskies were led by a noodle armed teenager who was scared to throw the ball down the field his Jr. and Sr. years.

Browning pulled his head out of his in the 2nd half of the Rose Bowl... no idea why it took him that long.

Who, according to his own words, was never taught to throw properly.

I love it when Jack fans talk about a QB who has never thrown a pass for the school. Let alone enrolled yet. Better watch it they may take a mulligan I hear it’s a cultural thing for the dogs and that is not a “SMALLS” thing to bark at.

Ah yes, a "cultural" thing. If the Husky QB room "culture" keeps bringing in 5-stars, I'm more than thrilled about this "culture."

And yes, I suppose it would be difficult for a RECRUIT to have thrown a pass or played a down for the team he's committed to. Are you suggesting I shouldn't be excited about Huard or are you going even further to suggest that you think he won't stay committed to the Huskies? Cause if you're that stupid, I'll bet my house against yours that he's a Husky 2 years from now.

Are you trying to troll me over Smalls? I have no idea if he's gonna end up at UW... but I'm also not particularly worried. The program seems to do a pretty solid job developing talent at linebacker. I'm just happy to be a fan of a team who has a chance to land a prospect like Smalls...

Seeing Cougars tweet at Smalls after he visited WSU was hilarious :D:D:DHow delusional can a fanbase be? "Mr. Smalls, you could come to Pullman and be the player who changes this program forever. You could be the best player we've ever had - wouldn't that be cool!?"

Who’s a 5 star? Jacob “Stump” Eason? The guy that threw for 50% and was sacked 4 times Saturday? His numbers at Georgia are laughable when compared to Browning in his first 2 years. Georgia is an elite program, so he had plenty of talent around him. Eason is already washed up..... talk about delusional. Eason is a poor man’s Max Browne.

God I miss you and no I would never put up my home on the shores of lake Chelan vs your double wide in Burien. But glad your back Tell me what gets you more excited your significant other, not that there is anything wrong with that, or SS’s? Go Dogs.

It wasn’t me that says there’s a cultural issue. Look at the dogs recruits.

@CrimsonDesciple Why yes, he was the #1 QB recruit in the country and is projected as a first round pick by just about everyone next year.

@kougkurtWhat because Sirmon and Yankoff left? Would you stay if in your true sophomore year you were getting 3rd or 4th reps behind Haener and a guy who just transferred in? That has nothing to do with culture and everything to do with not being good enough.

I love our players, they've led us to quite a bit of success in this "culture."

I'm not sure I've ever even been to Burien. Grew up on the East Side across the lake. And I like Chelan a lot.

Love Chelan and really unfortunate that there seems to be a fire almost every summer now... truly unfortunate .

Thanks, Ping. This, I think, is the main point regarding the Peterson regime. Their wins have not matched their actual talent, and their actual talent on the field has not matched the number of guru-rated recruiting stars that have been trumpeted in class after class. Had the actual talent matched the stars, and had the wins matched the actual talent, UW would own the PAC in a similar way to how Alabama owns the SEC and Clemson owns the ACC. Instead, UW manages to win the league in a good year and in a bad year they are not close. I guess "underperforming vs. expectations" would be a good summary description.
