Not fake news the 6'7 Seattle product verballed to the cougs A good catch and most importantly, inroads into the talent rich Seattle area.

Ellerby can best be described as a late bloomer. He is a lefty with a sound all around game. He is the son of bill Ellerby a Garfield HS and Cal graduate ,who runs a Seattle scouting service,He has a nice stroke from outside and plays hard on defense. He is a good pickup and will play four years for the cougs.I will say that his best basketball is ahead of him.He was also offered by Seattle U and udub

Looks like a good get! Don't know much about him but seems like the type of player that will continue to grow into a good one.

His new video shows a vastly improved player over his first videos. His team had him playing at an essentially a high post position where he can drive to the basket or shoot it outside. This was a change from his previous year where he played a guard/wing position His athleticism has improved by leaps and bounds and he will probably receive some high major offers before he signs.I would guess that Haskins and his father are well acquainted with each other. This kid will be a good one before it is through.

Saw on the other board someone thought he was taller than 6'7". Regardless seems to bring a lot of potential to the table.

Simply an outstanding get for Kent and the staff. He is exactly the player they needed for the 2018 class. Tough league the metro and he has great size and skill.

Top notch defender with size and quickness.

Does anyone know when he was on our radar? I could look through the huge thread and I'm cloudy this morning but I don't remember him coming up before.

They have been after him for a couple of years. More as his game improved this last year.

Glad to see a HS kid instead of the JCs Kent has been bringing in. Too bad Gittens didn't get in but it still feels like basketball is heading in the right direction.

Ellerby has been on their radar but they had pursued other players like Emmitt Matthews and others. I think that Ellerby has a higher ceiling than a few players they lost out on. He was mentioned last year but his recruitment has been rather quiet. I was surprised to see his new videos and how much he has improved.

He looked good in the video I watched. Nice mid range jumper and he looked like he had small forward typeskills

I did a little more research and as 12/2016,he had not received any offers. However his improved play and growth has led to increasing interest from WSU,Gonzaga ,.Udub and others. His recruitment was very quiet but his summer league play was getting a lot of attention. So the cougs 's staff did a very good job of recruiting him before he blows up .He is a excellent recruit who is getting better every month. He was a sleeper until his summer play.

Ellerby was listed at 6'6 155pds last year. I saw listed at 6'7 -180 this year. A few posters on brand X are poohpooing his recruitment and ability They believe that he was "plan B " for udub at the best These kinds of posters like to look at stars and rate a player that way. This kid is just beginning to see how good he may become..I think that this kid will surprise a lot of people by his soph year..

I will take a good metro league player anytime. We don't get them regardless of who else recruits them

Ellerby will be a much better player than some posters think. The high school coaches around the Seattle area think that he is an excellent recruit

For avabob who likes born 3 pt shooters, a little bit of history.. CJ s dad shot 41% from the 3pt land during his career at Cal. He also shot ..464 from 3 pt land as a 6'3 senior guard . CJ shows a nice quick release and touch from 3 pt land. Shades of his dad,i guess. Also CJ averaged 23.4 pts,13.8 rbs and 4.5 assts per game last year. He also excelled defensively and looks forward to taking on the PAC 12 s best. As i have said, his best basketball is ahead of this young still growing young man.

I liked the look of his jumper in the video. Also I like those scoring and rebounding numbers

It was good to see so many targets this summer but players like Ellerby are really good gets. If he can shoot at this level and is tough as advertised he has a good shot to make an impact down the road.

We need more like Elleby.

I like this recruit a lot. Really impressive stats at Cleveland as a junior. By the way his name is Elleby (without the r).

Yes i saw my misspelling, thanks .He seems like a quality kid with great parents. The fact that his dad coaches his AAU summer team may mean more inroads into the west side. The Seattle papers were hoping that the huskies would land him for this reason. and the fact his dad also runs a Seattle recruiting service for high school basketball in that area of the State

Some posters think that Kent will land another HS player from the Seattle area. They need front court help and there seem to be few options available. One possibility is 6'9 Phillip Pepple who is an emerging lightly recruited player who has grown about 2 inches. Of course there is 7'4 Riley Sorn from Eastern Washington, whose recruitment has gone underground or so it seems.
