Clay McGuire back

He is a shit coach. If you think he is a good coach you don’t have a damn clue what you’re looking at.

I fully agree....Might as well hired Graham Harrell. You have the ability to get the best talent and your line sucks at SC.

I never said he was a good coach. Just said he’s back. With the wide splits returning, maybe it’s more for recruiting?

I wide splits is exactly what hurt them against the UW. It allowed the Dawgs very talented NG to get leverage on our undersized center, and before the guard could help the NG was in on the play disrupting the play.

Clay was unsuccessful at Tech, USC and not sure he was "successful" here.

USC had decent offensive line stats this season considering all of the turmoil they had at the QB position and with their head coach.

Could he be coming back for recruiting purposes and his ties to LA?

or Napavine, Pe Ell, South Bend, Willipa Valley?

When you have SC talent “decent” isnt what you’re looking for. He doesn’t know what he is looking at if he offered the kid from Napavine.

Got someone better lined up?
I know where my first call would have been. He is employed by a school similair to WSU, has a track record of different systems and his lines have performed very well, and he is old where he is one stop before retirement. Offer him loads of money for his last stop, and a chance to come home.

Michalczik? You serious? He has never once coached the wide splits, air raid blocking concepts. It’s a good thing you aren’t a coach. You hire coaches that know your system.

Wrong.

It isn’t fuc$ing rocket science. A good OL coach can teach wide splits.

WSU hired a wide receiver to be the DC. He had to learn. Again, not rocket science.

I don’t think this is written anywhere, but I think as a rule if you require 3 towns/schools to make a football team, you don’t have any college prospects.
So you're saying there's still hope for that 5'10", 170 lb noseguard from St. John-Endicott?

Not one coach that runs air raid concepts have an offensive line coach that have no experience in the air raid. Riley? Bendenbaugh played at Iowa Wesleyan. Leach? Miller played at Valdosta. Holgo? Jones played at Tech. Morris OL coach at UIW worked at Baylor under Briles. You don’t see Air Raid coaches get offensive line coaches who have zero experience.

They’re hiring guys they know and have networked with. None of these guys were hired away from NASA. None of these guys were teaching math at Harvard.

If you can’t coach a kid to backpeddle or pass set, you’re fired. This should not be difficult for a guy making hundreds of thousands of dollars to learn. Even you could do it.

You are wrong. Again.

Several things… it is funny you say that and the very first coach hired by leach to coach oline had zero oline experience. Second, you really think an experienced oline coach can’t pick up the concepts of the wider splits . You act like it is rocket science . Third and probably most important he may be able to fold stuff from his system to the air raid that leach and others have not thought about .

He has been in numerous systems which he had lent his experience and had very productive olines.

He played in the system and coached in it. I never said anything about playing the position. That is my whole point. Air Raid coaches don’t hire coaches who never played or worked in the system. I don’t know why you’re obsessed with bringing in Cougs. We tried that with doba. How did that work?

Air raid coaches hire coaches from the Air Raid Club. Same as the Run and Shoot Club. It doesn’t mean that the scheme cant be learned by someone else. It sure as hell doesn’t mean you have to hire a turd coach just because he is in the club. Mason was a zillion times better than McGuire.

There are alums out there that can coach and have not been hired by WSU yet.

I am obsessed with bringing in Cougs? I think Doba has shown that is not a great strategy. Leach had a much better sales pitch than any Coug could come up with on the recruiting trail. What other "Coug" have I advocated for to be hired by Leach, Rolo or Dickert?

When there is the best in the business and you have connections you don't hire a guy who failed miserably at USC.

He was at SC for one year. And from what read from people covered the team they said he did a heck of a job this year. Take it FWIW. I really don’t care. He’s the OL coach again and I hope he works out. He did a good job getting bodies here and hopefully he does a good job doing that again.

I like that staff Dickert is putting together. Some were complaining over putting together a Mountian West staff. Now we're get a guy that was at USC this year and he suck too. Some people you can't please.
