Only undefeated team with a win over a ranked opponent to themselves not be ranked after 3 weeks.

Discuss.

*** Sorry, I forgot to add... EVER. Not this season, but ever.

They have the 19th rated defense, so, there's that. Obviously they're lacking a prolific offense at this point. Combine the defense with the 2019' offense and lookout! Oh, had to look way down the list to 94th in order to find their defense in 2019.

Bleed, if a voter is looking for a reason to not put us in the top 25, they have two good excuses. We did not have our sh*t fully together for Idaho. And we took a vacation on offense in the 2nd half after CSU made defensive adjustments. The midwest voters are torn. On one hand, they want us ranked so the B10 loss does not look so bad. On the other hand, Wisconsin made far more mistakes than we did in the game, and most of those midwest voters consider that to have been the deciding factor.

I suspect it is a combination of the above.

If they keep winning they will get there, losing to Central Michigan in the Sun Bowl, doesn't jump start you in the polls at the beginning of the season, which hangs over after the first 3 games. Even if you defeat Wisconsin on the road, it's not like we overwhelmed them offensively. This team has the potential to be a top 20 team, just have to keep winning, beat the Ducks and they are in. I don't care where we are after week 3, being in the top 15 after week 12 would be much better.

Were they mistakes though? Or did we force those mistakes?

It's the old case of "oh this top 20 team lost to wsu they must not be very good" as opposed to the opposite. I get that they didn't look great against Idaho. That has to be it but seems pretty weak ots of ranked teams in the past have barely survived weak opponents and its been fine. They won the game after all. I don't think CSU mattered most people probably just saw the final score.

Fair point, Spain, though to an extent it is, "Tomato, Tomahto", particularly to the poll voters. Errors of omission are seldom forced. Errors of commission could be argued either way. Wisconsin had several of each that were outside the penalties. I'd call most of the penalties, including all of the O line holding calls, as being forced. Most turnovers were also forced. The rest...clearly some of it was more about focus by the mistakee.
