From what I have read, his players hated him. So, this will be a relief for them. Still, WSU is the more talented team.

Hayford is an amazing X and O's guy. Some of the stuff he ran at EWU was mind-expanding. Really creative and his offenses were always top notch. That said, his squads were also remarkably, how shall we say this, melanin- challenged.

I have some mutual acquaintances who were friends with the guy. "Friends' might be a bit of a stretch but well acquainted. He wasn't particularly considered warm and fuzzy with the community at large.

I can imagine that at a school like Seattle U there'd by some additional cultural challenges than in Cheney.

At the time, I'd have taken him at WSU since it is generally off the radar and his EWU teams were really fun to watch relative to Ernie's dreck. In hindsight, glad it worked out the way it did.
