Inside WSU wing Cedric Coward's injury, recovery and his plans for the future

Read a snippet where dub coach Sprinkle called the upcoming portal a "disaster" because of tampering and offers. I'll watch us but I'm also always wait-and-see. Bracing for another roster turnover. Hopefully we end up better for it.

The turnover is another reason I enjoy what Ethridge has done so far. Keep most players around. Hopefully that holds up this year. We are very young.

The only way WSU has a high roster turnover via transfer portal, like last year, where lose 7 to 9 to 11 players that have to replace, is if WSU either goes to NIT Final 4, final 2 in Madison Square Gardens Arena in New York, or if wins WCC tournament to goto 2nd round of NCAA tournament, or if only won 15,16 games, and had no post season, etc.

WSU is not bad enough, not good enough to lose, replace 7 to 11 players via transfer portal, this season, after this season.

Cedric Coward will get drafted in 2nd round of NBA draft, as almost all of the NBA mock drafts, have Cedric Coward going in the 2nd round of NBA draft.

WSU will probably only have to replace Coward, Erickstrup, Price, Calmese, who all seniors.

If Riley does a decent job of replacing most of those 4 players, via transfer portal, then WSU will probably goto NCAA tournament next season, AND THEN lose 6 to 8 to 10 players to transfer portal.

If Riley does a bad job replacing those 4 players, then WSU will either goto CBI or no post season, or do bad enough that 6 to 8 to 10 would leave WSU via transfer portal.

If Riley does a in between good and bad job, like he did this season, then WSU won't lose 6 to 8 to 10 players via transfer portal.

So it will probably be 2,3 years, seasons before WSU loses 6 to 8 to 10 players via transfer portal.

WSU probably does not lose 6 to 8 to 10 via the transfer portal this season.

Calmese is better then Parker Gerrits. I hope that Parker Gerrits enters transfer portal.

Yes Parker Gerrits does not turn the ball over, but Gerrit is usually a bad shooter from 3 point range, midrange jumper range, has had a lot of airballs, misses from outside, does not create his own shot, does not drive, does not get a lot of assist, etc.

All Gerrits is, is he is like Darling: A less athletic, less skilled, less talented, less good body, player, that only played at PG, SG because of Injury to Isiah Watts, Marcus Wilson, and because Calmese has to come out eventually, as Calmese can't play every second, minute of the game nonstop, and has to come out some time.

Basically Gerrits was, is like the extremely short kid in Hoosiers, as Gerrits was a body, player, that didn't turn over ball, that passed ball but didn't get assist, that took charges, played good defense, set screens, did the blue collar little things.

With Gerrits on the floor, it was effectively 4 on 5, 4 against 5 on the offensive side of ball.

Anymore it’s so hard to speculate who will or won’t come back. It’s so easy and players have so many options. Calmese is one I’m pretty sure he will shop around, he has every year he’s been in college.

Calmese fell off a cliff as soon as everyone figured out all they had to do was stop him from driving all the way to the basket.

Parker is and always will be a walk-on. A very decent walk-on. Wouldn't have played much had the injury bug not bitten this team in practices.

Parker Gerrits was a preferred Walk On, and after his redshirt freshman season, he either got a scholarship, or if didn't, he probably will be put on scholarship for his Redshirt Sophmore, 3rd year, season, after this season.

But even if he is a Walk On, or would remain a Walk on, not get put on scholarship, or gets put on scholly, etc, instead of having him either start or be a bench back up that gets minutes, Parker Gerrits needs to enter transfer portal, and then be replaced by a better recruit, player, transfer, whether a scholly HS recruit, HS Walk On, Scholly JC transfer, JC Walk on transfer, scholly transfer portal, etc.

By replacing him with a better player, etc, then can use that better replacement as either a starter, key bench back up, a player that gets significant contributive key back up minutes, etc, or if there is a injury, would be better to play because of a injury, then playing Parker Gerrits because of a injury, because did not have Parker Gerrits enter transfer portal, portal leave WSU, and then replace him with a better JC, transfer portal, HS recruits, player, etc.
