Current events thread perhaps?

I don’t think government officials should be stealing trillions of dollars.

You do, obviously.

We are different, you and me.

BTW, your friend here just confirmed the new HHS secretary will “not” be brought to you by Pfizer.

Again, why all this drama? Just confirm Trump’s team and be done with it.

What's fascinating is your inability to read what people say or type. I never said that government officials we should be okay stealing trillions of dollars. I said that it's good to be looking for corruption and dealing with it but it's also important to know the full context of the actual facts and quit interpreting life through headlines.

As an example of your inability to read, the article that you linked said that $2.7 trillion in fraudulent payments have been made in the past 22 years to people that the payments should not have gone to, much of it going overseas. There is nothing in there that says that it was "government officials" stealing the money. I have no doubt that there is serious Medicare and Medicaid fraud going on where criminals are filing fraudulent claims. I have no doubt that the system is flawed and exploitable and needs to be reviewed and fixed. I think it's complete bullsh!t to suggest that there is a widespread problem where government officials are knowingly involved in those payments and committing fraud. There's a lot of wasted spending in government and there are people who are taking advantage of the system, but nothing in the article (or articles linked in the article) suggest that it's government corruption that's the problem. Bureaucratic bloat is a problem and there are a lot of congressional earmarks that should be reviewed, but the implication of corruption at every turn is just lazy and stupid.

Take the time to read a bit before you post and look like a dumbass.

Rabidly defending fraud is a good look for you! Keep it up!

Another headline:

"The contract, identified as FA865018C7886, was awarded in 2018 with a value of approximately $9.1 million. You can view the contract details at USASpending.gov."

Refresh our memories - who was President in 2018?

He's a troll. Low information, bordering on sub-par intelligence...but a troll nonetheless.

Not interested in real back and forth discourse like stretch or dgib. Just posts to other deficient brains. Taihtsat

Hey Flat - why do you keep feeding the Troll?

That said, the right-wing article itself on this $2.7T said this:
The subcommittee has found $2.7 trillion in improper and fraudulent government payments since forming their subcommittee.
This number came from a report late last year on government waste.

Ok, so let's go back to a September 10, 2024 release by the GAO which describes this "estimated" $2.7T total over the last 20 years.

https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-24-107660

This news item also discusses GAO's recommendations to reduce improper or fraudulent payments - recommendations from 2022. But wait - MTG sez they "found" this $2.7T AFTER forming the DOGE subcommittee? So the snot-nosed DOGE kids looked at the GAO's own previously-published report and takes credit for "discovering" it?

This "news" is a pretty good primer on the lies and hysterical BS that we had better get used to. The federal governments own watchdog identified all this estimated improper/fraud, but now the new administration "finds" it and takes credit for it? And the stupid Trump F's read the Fox and X misinformation and lies and lap it up.

I thought it was telling that the site linked had at the top advertising for buying guns online. Guns that are illegal for most people anyway. Always a sign of a reliable and credible source.

Laughing at an imbecile for being an imbecile isn’t quite the same as feeding the troll. Responding to HHusky is feeding the troll.

Uber stretching the limits of dumbfckry…shocking.
The thing that I keep shaking my head at is how the MAGA types keep lapping up Musk & Trump’s talk about dismantling “the deep state” without noticing that Musk & Trump are setting up their own deep state.

I mean how “deep” is it when one of them is throwing up nazi salutes in plain sight?

Are you referring to Warren, Barry or Cackles?

I know that this might be shocking, but a single frame photograph does not provide context that may be relevant. In the one picture of Obama, it's pretty obvious that he is in the middle of making a point and raising his hand and not making a salute. The picture of Hillary is her waving at someone. Kamala has her arm raised to the side. Only morons (or MAGA supporters...same thing really) would see those pictures as proof that they were making a Nazi salute. Twitter post with some relevant pictures.

Now, to be fair, I don't think Musk was necessarily doing a Nazi salute, but whatever he did was weird. What makes it funny is that most MAGA folks don't try to say that he wasn't doing a Nazi salute....they say, "What about.......". That is kind of hilarious in itself.

You mean shit gets spewed on the internet and in the media in a misleading manner? My goodness. That must be shocking to the morons out there. Biden must be doing cartwheels around his staff somewhere?!?!?!

Your comment about a single frame picture not showing the context is certainly valid, and it is done all the time.

Not sure why you think what Musk did was weird. He patted his chest a time or two, meaning his heart, and then threw love from the heart out to the crowd. It is a known gesture and has nothing to do with Nazis. Consider it as somewhat comparable to throwing a kiss to someone.

BTW, you know who else did the exact same gesture without getting any of the MSM or the libs (but I repeat myself) all upset? Tim Walz. Funny how that works.

If you’re dumb enough to believe Elon wasn’t throwing up a fascist sign after he’s told you repeatedly he’s a fascist, you’re probably dumb enough to believe Trump isn’t a sexual assaulter after he told Billie Bush he sexually assaults women.

At least Trump’s tried to deny it. I haven’t even heard Musk come out and say… “naw that’s not what I was doing”. Would it be that hard? How come he hasn’t? 🤔

1. Why should he have to address something so stupid brought up and pushed by those whose mission in life is to degrade and harm anyone that is in any way remotely connected to someone that they hate with a blind passion?
2. Musk did say "I want to thank you for making it happen" and "My heart goes out to you" as he did the gesture again.
3. When has Musk repeatedly stated that he is a fascist?
4. There are clearly significant differences between what Musk did and the Nazi salute. Anyone denying that is being deliberately stupid.
5. The ADL (Anti Defamation League) knows a Hell of a lot more about hate, discrimination, and anti-Jewish actions than you do, and they basically say you are full of shit. Check out the link and learn something.

My eyes and ears don’t fail me often which is why I rely on them when I can more than news stories which often are biased.

Pretty clear to me what I saw, in its entire context and I’m not the only one. Why would he do it? I think in the heat of that moment it was the equivalent of a FU to those who are against his ideology. If you didn’t mean it and it was some awkward gesture, then say just say it. He didn’t.

As for his history there’s plenty there. It’s not hard to find. You’re cheering it on though so I don’t expect you to look.

Okay, I will give you more than you deserve:
1. Have you EVER seen or heard about anyone that was an actual Nazi giving the salute off to the side like Musk did? I have not.
2. Have you ever seen a Nazi salute given after tapping their heart? I have not.
3. Every actual verified Nazi salute I have seen was done by bringing the arm straight up from a lower position straight out in front from the shoulder, without any sideways movement. Did Musk do that? No he did not.
4. If you are so upset about someone supposedly giving a Nazi salute, why aren't you also fired up about Tim Walz doing the exact same thing?
5. If you are going claim that Musk has said he is a fascist, then it is incumbent upon YOU to prove that claim, not for me to prove that he didn't say. And I actually DID do a simple search, asking "did Muck say that he was a fascist?". Surprise, surprise, it did not come back with examples of that, only to sources speculating that he did a Nazi salute. So the ball is in your court, go ahead and find some of those easy sources that prove Musk said he was a fascist and share with all us folks from Missouri.

I thought Nazis, fascists, communists or whatever had to be driving around in a car where they stand up through the moonroof with a row of microphones in front of them.

You really think a Nazi would be able to attract billions of dollars in investment, government contracts, and loans?

Considering Hitler himself (pretty sure a Nazi, although you’re the smart one so I’ll let you confirm) generated $ billions of the above during and after he came into power…I’d say yes.

What else can you make of the wave of resignations over the dismissal of charges against Eric Adams? Danielle Sassoon, who was elevated to her position by President Trump when he took office, who is a member of the conservative Federalist Society and clerked for the conservative Justice Antonin Scalia has emphatically rejected the dismissal of these charges as being an illegal quid pro quo. One of the members of the prosecuting team, Hagan Scotten, who clerked for Chief Justice John Roberts has put in writing:

“Any assistant U.S. attorney would know that our laws and traditions do not allow using the prosecutorial power to influence other citizens, much less elected officials, in this way,”

“If no lawyer within earshot of the President is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me.”

Irrespective of policy differences, if the only people who are left in government are those who are loyalists to a person and will put those loyalties above those to their county, how can you describe that as being anything other than a "Deep State." This is bad for America, and I don't see how anyone who cares about the country could cheer these actions on.
