Not entirely surprising, but given that the secondary was far and away our biggest defensive weakness (and that's saying something), our new defensive coordinator's job just got harder.

CP often comes running here with stuff from BX, which supposedly has three sources telling them Brown has been booted. I'm not disagreeing with the report; Brown was arrested back in March stemming from a fight. Perhaps he violated his last-chance agreement? If so, goodbye and good riddance.

So we don't even know circumstances? I'd agree, CP. WOW. This was reported without any more info that this? Agreed IF this is true that it's a good "story" but come on… a little info, for context purposes please? What if he raped, murdered and ate someone? Obviously taking the "what if" game to an extreme but without knowing the circumstances this could be a good thing for the team… again… IF true. Context is everything when it comes to stories.

Maybe not

Apparently tweets indicate that he's suspended, not dismissed, from the team.

Re: Maybe not

Well, that's better. They weren't going to get better in the secondary losing the best player. Although losing him wouldn't undo any great work, hopefully he gets with the program laid down by his new position coach- if he doesn't, at least he has a redshirt year to transfer if he wants to keep playing at the college level, or he can drop a level for the year if his eye is toward the pros.

Exactly what this defense needs!!!!!

I guess he took the whole "[. . .] last year we had guys on defense who were all like KILL KILL KILL... [. . .]" a bit literally...

Ugh, BX and their click-bait.

Please spare us the time and effort and just don't come report the crap that BX posts on their site. Or at least cite it. But those guys have proven time and time again to the be National Enquirer of all things Coug, so them getting the scoop on something is about as trustworthy as a used-car salesman.

Exactly my thoughts. Britton just retweeted Pat Porter's comment that Brown is still on the team.

Dewey Beats Truman!

We'll see how Brand X's headline turns out in hindsight. But here is a possibility ("every publisher's nightmare"):

Tim Jones, Chicago Tribune, 2014.

As a presidential candidate, Gov. Thomas Dewey of New York was not a glad-hander, not a flesh-presser. He was stiff and tended toward pomposity. "The only man who could strut sitting down" was the crack that made the rounds. But on Nov. 2, Election Day, an overwhelming sense of inevitability hung about the Republican nominee. The polls and the pundits left no room for doubt: Dewey was going to defeat President Harry S. Truman. And the Tribune would be the first to report it.

Seattle Times says dismissed, not suspended.
That's just a regurgitated wire report from Thorpe.

True. This is just Thorpe's article that the Times picked up. From the same article, I found out that the Seattle Sounders Women have confirmed that Hubert Busby will return as the head coach for the Sounders Women in 2015 and the Seattle Thunderbirds switched their Jan. 10 game against the Tri-City Americans at ShoWare Center to Sunday, Jan. 11, at 5:05 p.m. Who knew?

Re: Maybe not

So is Thorpe the confirmation of BX that we're looking for? Or are the rumor mill gears still churning?

Since there is conflicting information, I'd say wait until the SID makes a comment or for Brown to be removed from the roster. He's still on the roster for what that's worth. Monroe and Pritchard are not, but Giffin is.

I posted this over in the War Room, but I'll pass it along here, too. I spoke with a source close to the program last night and I was told that Daquawn Brown was suspended but that it could change to dismissed at any time. I got the sense that he's likely gone, however.
