Some decent QB's that were recruited the last 5 years. we lost our best olineman today. It will be interesting to see how they will manage the Holiday bowl with no offensive staff. Maybe the bowl games are a thing of the past....and if you qualify for a bowl game maybe use it solely for three weeks of winter practice.

The only answer to this is to have financial penalties or eligibility penalties for not playing all the way through.

Should have mandatory buyouts for players. You want to go big in the portal you have to pay a luxury tax to the team you are poaching from. Would help even the playing field a bit.

I don't think the mandatory buyouts would fly. Especially with different values on different players... different years left of eligibility...

I know the NCAA can't stop players from getting paid, but there has to be a way set eligibility to play.

Just like the NCAA can say if you don't practice... you can't play.

Well, transfer and sit a year. Including graduates.

Just make it so that "sit out year" won't take away from eligible years to play.

Players get recruited by our Major League affiliate. They pay then stash players in need of development and playing time with us, the Minor League affiliate.

I enjoyed college football more before the playoffs started. I loved the bowl system. I remember getting up on New Years Day and watching bowl games from morning until night. Now I don't watch anything except games that Cougs are involved.

How about the Penn State backup QB entering the portal. Because of the stupidity of the system he doesn’t really have a choice if he wants to go start somewhere.

Why on earth does the portal open before the last game. Can you imagine if free agency in the NFL started right after the regular season? Its absurd.

Same here. Not that you're arguing otherwise, but the playoff, per se, didn't really ruin things in and of itself. If everything else was the same as 10 years ago but with a 12-team playoff, things would still be pretty good. You had some top guys opting out of low-level bowl games, but opt-outs weren't as pervasive. You weren't losing all the guys in the portal, too; you just had some guys opting out to "prepare for the draft." NIL and transfers have combined with and built upon all of the other inequities and ridiculousness in college football so as to make it very hard to care, let alone to dedicate money to it.
