(Flat would certainly know more than just anybody on any backstory ...)

But has anyone considered with his connections to the conference as President of Kansas State from 2009-2016, that Dr. Schulz may be positioning WSU to be among the Pac 12 schools that jump to the Big 12?

Could it be that his public comments about a pending Pac 12 TV deal are really just a smokescreen to divert the media's attention?

After all, a lot of these conference changes like USC and UCLA and other have caught the experts by surprise

Kind of a reach there Choppy. WSU is probably the last school, along with OSU, that the Big 12 would covet. Schulz is f-ing it up bigtime with the SDSU thing. The PAC has got to stay together. FUSC and FUCLA will regret their dumbass move in due time.

Good chance you'll be right — you usually are.

Right or wrong, I still have faith in Dr. Schultz and (to a lesser extent) the AD whose haircut you detest. I think Schultzie has been in the business long enough that he knows how to strategize what's best for WSU's future.

Hopefully Flat weighs in here at some point if he has the time. Since he's a long-time Kansas resident, Flat — or at least one of his buddies — may know the "Good Doctor" on a personal level

But…if we doubled the size of our stadium…maybe a chance?!

I’ve basically lost any faith in the so-called PAC-12 leadership. They are horrible, inept and just incompetent. I’m embarrassed for WSU and the PAC. Get a deal done for TV / streaming for gawd sake. Or clean house and hire people who know how to run a conference and not into the ground.

I haven't heard any kind of noise at all about the Big 12 and WSU. The only discussions that I've heard are the ones involving CU, Utah, UA and ASU and none of them seem legit.

No other Conference, including the Big12 wants WSU or the Beavs. I’ve seen no evidence of this at all. We’ll be slupped over the the Mt. West Conference,if they’ll take us. Then we’ll have a home slate of Utah State’s, Wyoming’s and Colorado States, sprinkled in with some AF Acadamy, Hawaii, SJS, SDSU, UNLV & BSU. At that point, I’ll stop buying season tickets and buy single game tickets to the games I want to see. I haven’t missed a WSU pac game in almost 20 years.

I’m preparing for this in the same way and trying to find a silver lining if it happens. There’s a lot of good road trips in there. Still hoping the pac 12 gets it’s shit together, but if a fly-fishing/WSU road game at Wyoming is the backup plan so be it.

The only way I will, would be ok with it, is if WSU finishes in the top 2 in the MWC, almost every season, and if MWC gets a seat into the playoffs if the conference champion has no more then 1,2,0 losses, and if WSU gets into the playoffs because of that, and if WSU becomes the Gonzaga of Football in a mid major group of 5 like a Gonzaga, etc.

WSU, could maybe do that, IF, IF, IF WSU starts going 10-3 every season under Dickert while in the PAC 10/12, before, if the P12 disintegrates. And if WSU does that, then WSU MIGHT be able to recruit well in the MWC, despite not being able to use PAC 12 membership to help recruiting.

If WSU is not able to do that, then WSU would finish 3,4,5, and 8-5, in MWC and a minor bowl every year

Not talking about being “ok” with it. If the Pac-12 falls apart and we end up in the MWC that’s shitty. Just saying I’ll make the most of it…not much more you can do.

If the Pac 10 becomes the Pac 2, WSU and OSU need to keep the conference name. Keep the brand for themselves. Then build it as they see fit.

Yup, there’s no way WSU/OSU are somehow worse than MWC institutions even without the other programs.

I wish you were right, but that's about as possible as a WSU stadium in Ellensburg.

Flat, is it fair to say that Dr. Schulz is very well respected in Kansas and the traditional Big 8/Big 12 region?

KSU graduates relationship with Schulz is complicated. Everyone acknowledges that he did an overall good job as KSU President. Most of the larger athletic facility improvements happened under his watch and the university improved significantly overall during his tenure. He led with the vision that KSU was going to become a Top 50 public university and made changes to see that happen (although they still have a long way to go).

A lot of KSU grads HATE Schulz because of his inability to tell his wife to shut the hell up. One of KSU's favorite slogans is EMAW or "Every Man A Wildcat". His dumba$$ wife thought it was discriminatory and convinced him to publicly denounce the phrase and suggest EPAW (Every Person A Wildcat) instead. That went over like a fart in church and there is a significant percentage of KSU alumni who were thrilled that he left because of that incident alone. So, KSU fans generally thought Schulz was a good president other than the fact that he married a liberal idiot and he lacked the balls to tell her to understand that it wasn't her job to change every little aspect of the world to her viewpoint.

Interesting. Apparently, she has lost her “tweeting” rights. Rumor has it someone within WSU has told her to stay off the bird app.

If the other schools abandon the brand, do whatever it takes to keep it. The branding hit taken from Pac 10 to Mtn Worst isnt beneficial at all.

Dumb move on Shulz's part. He should have gone with Everyone A Wildcat (EAW) instead. Everyone knows that TLA's* are the way to go unless there is a very cute word spelled with more than that.

*TLA= Three Letter Acronym. Boeing had a listing of many pages that you could go to and look up what they stood for. It was ridiculous. I worked with one group that had a TLA in which each letter stood for another three letters. Crazy.

Colorado is very legit. Athletic Department wants Big 12. Exposure and recruiting. President would prefer to stay in a PAC that is economically viable. More academically prestigious schools. Arizona...somewhat. Utah AD/President made statements - that were a put down - that they did not want to go to the BIG 12. That was in February. You hear nothing along those lines from them now. ASU has had no comment. Smart. Colorado is the one to watch. They are familiar with both conferences - PAC and Big 12. By far, their best FB years were in the Big 12, with 30 plus Texas kids on their roster, which is why their football coach is saying...go. now.

The Big 12 without Texas and Oklahoma. Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, etc.? As compared to Stanford, Cal, OU and uw? Why the F did they leave in the first place?

EMAW was never going to die gracefully and Schulz should have known better. KSU fans actually yell "EMAW!" at each other on occasion, not unlike Coug fans yelling, "Go Cougs!" It's not as prevalent, but after victories in particular, you'll see EMAW thrown out there. EAW would not have the same ring to it.

Current events. USC and UCLA already split. Oregon and Washington want out of the PAC - understatement - and into the Big 10, and they may have a shot - Stanford as well if the can pair up with ND. Why would Colorado stick around in a conference that is having a bitch of a time tabling a media package of any sort to its members, several of which will bolt in a NY minute if they get the chance? Wait until it comes time to get all ten to sign a GOR that is for more than two months.

Kind of like when V. Lane Rawlins banned Wazzu from the vocabulary. I worked there back then, and the shit we got from alums and donors was impressive. Then of course Elson Floyd came here from Mizzou and all the BS went out the window.

What was the point of that "banning" measure by Dr. Rawlins?
Oh Choppy, you have no idea. That was back in the post 1998 riot days, when WSU was trying to get rid of the party school reputation, and position ourselves as "World Class, Face to Face".

Rawlins and our marketing people (led by this AVP who wasn't even a Coug) basically pulled the Wazzu stuff of the shelves (although I still have a lot of it :). It was complete BS, the term was viewed as I dunno, getting it in your Wazzu?
