Doesn’t look like our new QB recruit is diggin this

Looks like he is verballed to Montana State.

I feel like Jayden shouldnt be worried. Should be open to competing and confident he will beat out all comers.

I agree. Interesting emoji he chose though

Kids Ive seen run 11.1 or faster were ALL 4.4 forty kids. If he has a legit sub 11 second time I would prob put more into that than a hand timed 4.77 by who knows who and who knows how.
well, you'd think a kid who is putting that much time into his recruitment would get an electric 40 time, but who knows. He's probably a long strider, which would explain the disparity.

Just watched his highlight film.... he doesnt strike me as a long strider.

He is BCS talent. Im amazed he is verballed to Montana State. How every school on the West Coast hasnt offered him or at least been to see him is beyond me. He could lead a PAC 12 team to the Rose Bowl.

Not kidding. At all. He is a supa f*cking star.

Errrr, he ran a 4.77 40.

Nvm...
No way he's a 4.77 guy, but his inconsistent 100 times...not a track guy. Probably a reluctant track guy who came out because he liked the track coach. I would guess his shuttle time is really good. His football IQ is really good. As a junior...he'd look off receivers.

His hudl lists a 4.48, so I guess that's his new 40????

Also, he throws to his left, so there's that.

ran an laser timed 40 at 4.72. seems faster than that. He might not even be offered a PWO at the qb position.

Gordon doesn't throw left, because Tay can't separate from Pac-12 defenses. Plus our 3 best receivers are all on the right side.

I've noticed that Arco has been lining up and Y and H. He's actually listed as a the starter at Y. Just throwing that out there.

If your position group is really the most talented in the conference, seems like you could move guys around.

Or continue what you're doing. Not having a run game and not throwing left make it that much easier for the defense.

Biggs it sounds like you either don't really understand the air raid offense, or you cant bring yourself to accept it and want to change it.

It works really good and its not going to change much I don't think. Although Leach seems willing to run more out of it now and there was one year at Texas Tech when he utilized a 6-4 255 pound samoan tight end and it worked really well.

And the Air Raid is a perfect fit for WSU.

I understand the offense perfectly fine. I also understand what shuts it down. I understand the counter to it.

What I cant accept is watching a coach refuse to maximize the talents of his kids. I understand the scheme. I also understand that sometimes you have a kid that might be really talented at something your scheme doesnt usually do. Do you refuse to use his talents and lose games cause it isnt true to your scheme??? Or do you say to hell with it and win some games doing what he does well??? And back to regularly scheduled air raid when he graduates???

Leach is 1-4 in league play. They could win the rest or lose them all. And there is no room to question if he is maximizing his running back??? There is no room to question if his scheme needs to grow???Whatever.

You really don’t.

im all for getting Borghi more touches, as an aside, I remember the first season where Leach had that Russian tight end at WSU and he gave interviews saying he was really going to utlilize the Russian kid as a tight end all over the field-and it turns out he was blowing smoke and the kid never caught a pass. I bought it hook line and sinker, because he actually did that one year at Tech.

Borghi’s touches need to be managed. Can’t afford to lose him. He’s the only RB that can pass block. We’ll start losing QBs if we lose Borghi.

Biggs is obsessed with gaining a marginal improvement by running with Borghi more. He ignores the fact we only run about 25 plays and anything we do to spruce up the running game would mean a simplified passing attack. It ignores that our linemen have been recruited primarily to pass block. It ignores that our back up running backs behind Borghi are a major downgrade. The offense likely drops from a top 10 offense to a middle of the road offense overnight.

Every defensive coordinator in the conference hopes Leach gets away from what's working.

this is all true. You get Borghi more involved within the framework of the offense, but you don't kill the golden goose. Id have some pitchouts, shovel passes, short passes in the flat to him. Id also use him more on runs inside the five.

Lintz actually caught 2 passes Leach's first year, but your point stands. I wonder though if some of that was due to the team just not being that good that year and adjusting to the air raid. Would Lintz have been utilized more nowadays? I always liked him and he still comes back and cheers for the cougs. I think he went back and got a Masters from WSU too.

I believe that Lintz was injured most of his senior year. Leach being Leach, none of us knew. It came out later.

My tinfoil theory is this moron walkon's tweet prompted the QB commit to tweet out the confused face and, surprise, surprise... USC shows up with an offer. Teams might feel like he's definitely open to flipping now. A bunch of drama which could have been avoided if Montana St had simply included the letters PWO in his original tweet.

Theory doesn’t seem to tinfoil. I had the same thought, but Making degrading comments about a 17 year old on the internet is an interesting decision.... All over a fear we might lose a MWC level QB.

Yeah I seem to recall it was a knee injury exacerbated by still practicing reps when he maybe should have rested (his mom said something about that)... I thought Leach was pretty high on him in Spring and Fall camp. He still played in all 12 games and briefly played for the Sea Hawks in '13 at least in preseason.

I'm confident DeLaura will stick to his commitment. I honestly think he was confused as to why the staff broke their pledge to him that he was their guy and that they were not going to offer anyone else. Well they didn't break their pledge. A PWO is very different than offering a scholarship. De Laura's film is crazy good. His film is the best qb film I've seen in over 20 years from a Wazzu qb commit. Bruggman or Arkelon Hall might have been higher rated, but Jayden's film is way more complete and impressive.

He intentionally omitted the PWO part to make it seem like he had more recruiting interest. Even 17 year olds know that's not exactly honest.

Haven’t really been paying attention to other PAC-12 schools. USC’s class is rather lack luster. Two four star guys, and their QB recruit(s) must have bailed.

I’m sure we’ll return the favor and offer/ramp up on all of their verbals if we’re not doing so already.
