During the first Signalgate, The Wall Street Journal published fake news. This fake news was immediately reported by every major news outlet. CBS published a story about it minutes after the WSJ's came out, citing the WSJ as a source.

They claimed that Steve Witkoff was in Russia at the time of the Signal chat and was receiving the chat messages on his personal phone. They wanted to make it seem like Russia may have intercepted the messages. The only problem was that Witkoff didn't bring his personal phone with him to Russia. This was verifiable and they would have known if they checked before publishing the story.

No on-air retractions or apologies. Every MSM spread the same fake news story and just moved on after like it never happened. Just something to keep in mind.
