Eric Morris interview

Spending 1 scholly at minimum, 2 at average, 3 at most, on a TE, is NOT a big deal, if, as long as take, get 4 OL per year, year after year.

1 less OL per year, at 4 OL per year, instead of 5 per year as Flat and others have explained, is NOT a big deal.

And 1,2 times per every 3,4,5 years, you can take a 5th OL in a year, if need to, have to.

Now if your as bad as Will, in recruiting, then you need to take 5,6 OL per year.

But if your good at recruiting, evaluating, development, you can get by on 4 OL per year, and take a 5th OL as an OPTION if need to.

Bottom line is ERIC MORRIS produced the BEST OFFENSE in the nation at the FCS level at IW, with his 1 TE, modified, hybrid AIR RAID, and taking a mix of 3,4,5 OL, per year, and probably took about a mix of 1,2,3 TE per year.

Eric Morris can and will probably do the same at WSU, and will probably do just fine.

1. Maybe. 2 on average? No thanks. 3? No way. How many TEs do you think need to be on the roster? That would be absolutely flushing scholarships to have 6 guys on the roster who may catch a couple balls a game total.

All this TE hype reminds me of how excited people were to see what Andrei Lintz would do in the Air Raid. As I recall, he didn't do $hit.

That is a bad example. He and others didn't know the system, ran routes to a specified distance vs breaking the pattern and running to green grass. It had to not knowing the system. Also, if you were expecting him to run in the slot, and make quick adjustments that is not the best use of Lintz' talent.

I do like what Brian Smith did with the slots and how they were always open and how well they caught the ball.

WSU can get very good slot WRs every year. I like a scheme that uses these kids and sends them to the NFL.

Eric Morris had good offenses at Tech, he recruited and coached Patrick Mahomes, who was a 3 star, rated # 50 in the State of Texas, a lot of people passed on Mahomes, so he has an eye for talent and the ability to coach. He did well at Incarnate Word to say the least, really turned that program around, made it to the playoffs and almost upset heavily favored Sam Houston in the quarter finals. So it appears to me that Morris, knows what he is doing, we can second guess a lot of things, and from this point on I'll keep my mouth shut about the offense, well until next fall. Needless to say Morris has a plan, and it's his job to execute it, and I wish him nothing but success. And IMO if he didn't see something in JDL he wouldn't be coming here, so this talk about the offense not fitting him is crap, he was recruited as an AR QB . If this team can average over 35 points a game, and keep the opponents under 24 a game, we are looking at a lot of winning seasons. It appears Dickert has surrounded himself with some solid coordinators, now we just have to recruit, and hang onto some coaches when we have success.

Every year is different. Let’s say you’ve got a gronk type at GPrep that bleeds crimson. Yeah, you’re gonna take him and hell with the extra slot guy when there may not be a huge supply of available guys in a given class

Former De Facto AD Jim Walden remerges from self-exhile and requests a TE.

I heard that in the presser, laughed as I knew whose voice it was, never did hear the answer. Jim may end up liking this coach, now that he convinced him he needs a TE:)
