Cole averaged 4.4 points and 3.6 boards a game and says he's down to 11 programs. He's listed at 6-10 225 on the G-Tech site. A quick search resulted in some dunks at G-Tech.

His numbers aren't eye popping, but if he has offers from BYU, Ohio State, and Cincy, he must have some value. Appears to be pretty athletic. I have lost track of the many grad transfers that WSU is looking at. I'm feeling even more strongly that a grad transfer big man would be a nice one-year bridge that allows Vova & Chatfield to develop. This guy or Markusson or, even better, the Quinnipiac guy would fit the bill.

I agree a grad transfer big could be the answer/ bridge for our developing bigs. This guy seems athletic and his numbers are at least in one of the elite power conferences. He seems to have some issues staying healthy. His 4 points and basically 4 rebounds were in 12 minutes a game. We probably have potentially 20 minutes available. His numbers could rise to at least what we lost from Pollard.

I feel like if I put my name in the transfer portal I would draw some interest at this point.

Agreee we need someone with experience to bridge to Vova and also coverage for development with Vova and Chatfield. Marfo (Quinnipiac) or someone similar seems like the best in terms of fit and need. There are going to be teams where Vova has trouble matching up. I wouldn't be at all upset with Markusson though.

There's a lot of competition for all these guys. I was a bit surprised to see Ohio State on Cole's list.

Putting up good defense, athleticism and 4 ppg, 4 rebounds per game in just 12 minutes of play because your either injured, recovering from injury, combined with better in front of you on a stacked, loaded depth chart, is pretty darn good EFFICIENCY.

If project him out at WSU, that about 7 ppg, 7 rebounds per game in about 23 minutes.

That about 9 to 13 ppg, 8.5 to 9.5 rebounds per game, DOUBLE DOUBLE per game in about 30 to 33 minutes per game as a starter.

And at 6 ft 10, extremely athletic, is probably better then the 6 ft 8 in kid, etc.

And all the awesome offers also probably bear that out as well

I'm assuming we backed off after Dishon Jackson signed but Evan Cole has committed to Utah Valley.

WSU probably doesnt need him now, and it is what it is, but that doesnt nake sense, why would a recruit choose Utah Valley over everybody on that list.

That would be like choosing to go to Whitworth college over Ohio State, etc.

Doesnt make sense.

Oh well it is what it is

I would say coach Mark “Mad Dog” Madsen could be a big reason. 9 years in the NBA as a player and 6 years as a assistant coach with the Lakers he obviously would have the connections to help a player get to the next level if the talent is there. Utah Valley didn’t have a great year (Madson’s first) but they were coming off back to back 20 plus win seasons.

Not a good comparison. Utah Valley is a D-1 program and has gone to a post season tournament 5 out of the last 8 years. Whitworth is D-3.
