Has this ever happened to you? You or your wife receives a fancy "wedding invitation from a distant relative or your buddies daughter/son, getting married that's unbelievably scheduled on a COUG football Saturday?

NO WAY Jose. At first, I reluctantly told my wife I would come, but said, "let me see the invitation". 2PM, October 17th, Lacey, WA, with reception to follow. At first I said yes, I'll go. Then I thought about it.
It's right in the middle of our OSU game, and I'm certainly not going to have an earbud radio in my ear during the wedding and reception, (looking like a self-centered Coug-freak), or worse, streaming live an iPad/Laptop on the Pac-12 Network. That would be weird, right?!

Wait, what about DVR'ing it, and watching the game at home Saturday night? Sorry, the Ducks are playing Montlake. Plus, I can't resist the temptation with my ears and eyes closed for all those wedding bell hours.

What to do? "I'M NOT GOING, (sorry)", I declared. Wife replied, "You don't have to go. Nobody there will even notice"! You know what? She's right!

My point? I'm just amazed at people who schedule their wedding on a College Football Saturday. Granted, I get the fact they could care less, but sheesh.....so many people just plain don't know, or care. It's crazy.

Oh my, M-I. You have dredged up some bad memories for me. I reluctantly agreed to go to a wedding of someone from my wife's workplace...didn't even know the couple...on the night of the famous WSU win over USC in OT (Jason Gesser, Drew Dunning game winning FG, etc), one of the greatest Cougar victories ever, I've been told many times by many Cougs. My wife has been making it up to me ever since.

Insult to injury....the wedding cake wasn't that good.

Glad Cougar

Thanks for sharing! (Glad to hear you're not in the doghouse)!

That was one of the best home USC games, EVER! I was there at Martin, and the RV lot. Had the best time! Triple Overtimes, and the Athletic Department put the Drew Dunning game ball on an eBay auction. I could've had that game ball for like $350.00! I of course regret not splurging and increasing my bid on eBay. The ball would be a museum piece.

Of course my daughter's school scheduled the annual fundraiser on this Sat, and my wife volunteered me to help with setup and to work a booth. Noon to 10pm. And the worst part is the school picked a football theme and wants us to wear our favorite teams apparel.

I'm trying to plan my "Sorry babe, I can't help" speech.

You've got to bail! I get the family and commitment thing. But, like I tell my wife, 3 months a year, on Saturday's this is my hobby. "Don't schedule weddings or special events on a Coug Saturday". People understand. Take you're wife out on a date night, and she'll forgive you!
