Florida State. Go Ducks

Air Raid down there with their cupcake schedule would be dangerous

how in the world "the experts" ever hired Taggert ill never know, a casual fan could see he wasn't a good coach

This is a program that I am worried will go after Leach
I think it is more likely that a NFL team comes calling. Since the NFL hired an unsuccessful disciple of Leach's, they will go after the successful original.

Agree here. FSU is the one school I would be extremely nervous about.

Leach doesn't scream to me like he wants an NFL gig, but I could be totally off base in that thought.

I don't think Leach would ever want to coach in the nfl, not a glad hander and hates dealing with BS, aka millionaires with bad attitudes

Taggart was in so far over his head and really hadn’t accomplished much as a head coach to merit getting either the Oregon or FSU jobs. Although I believe Meyer will go to SC if he decides to get back into coaching, it would be fun to see him go to FSU. Gator Nation would go apoplectic if that were to happen. In no time, Meyer would own their asses and become public enemy #1 in Gainesville.

I don’t see FSU pursuing Leach unless they strike out on their first few candidates. I also don’t know how good of a fit Leach’s system would be at a blue blood program. Not saying it wouldn’t work, but I’m uncertain about it.

FSU can attract a lot of good candidates. Leach would win games and restore order, but that program, and any blue blood, demands defense.

The offense would work the same as it did at WSU(probably scary good with Florida talent), the problem here is rather than a fan base that's starved for winning and appreciates what you do...…….you have a bunch of entitled A Hole boosters who probably wont let the hire take place and if it does they will be a thorn in your side. Leach also likes to be left alone and Pullman is perfect......Talahassee will be under a microscope.

Its probably a better place than the SEC though as far as media.

He has already said he would have taken a job in the NFL. He just wants to be the head coach, not an assistant.

I suppose he could hire coordinators and run the offense but man I think it would be a bad fit for him
I know that there is this idea that Coach Leach can only do well in certain places. I think he is a great coach and can win anywhere there is support. I hope he stays at WSU until he decides to retire.

But, if he went to a place with a good owner, then he can win in the NFL.

I agree he is a great coach, but i think his best fit is as a college coach. Its not that his offense wouldn't work in the nfl-it would given the talent, but I think hed be unhappy with his job.

As far as college, yea he can win anywhere.

I can see them going after leach . They hired Bobby Bowden from WVa.

Why settle for second best?

Bobby Bowden is 89 years young

Sure... there is a subtle point . That a coach from a college down can fit in at FSU. Bowden would have been hammered at Alabama. Penn State .

FSU is one of the few Power Five conference teams that Mike Leach would fit in .

No offense. Just how do any of us know what would make Mike Leach happy or unhappy? Are what any of us think really just projecting our own feelings on the subject? I do think there are NFL jobs that he would not be as happy as others, just as I believe that there are college jobs that he would not be as happy as others.

I think he would do fine with a team like Green Bay for example. He would hate Washington and Dan Snyder.

I only see it as a plan B. Frankly, the names being thrown about are stronger than Leach at this stage of his career.

I could see someone like Arkansas making a strong push though.

Like who . Who has done more with less? Who has always won . Who has the coaching tree that Is well respected like his ? I don’t see FSU being arrogant like Tennessee

no offense taken, Leach doesn't like dealing with the media too much, and doesn't do too well with primadonna players with bad attitudes.

No, I don't think he ever goes to the NFL.

He has already said he would have taken a job in the NFL. He just wants to be the head coach, not an assistant.

He's never said that to my knowledge. He said he'd "listen" if the NFL called, and cited a positive of being able to focus on football with a negative of not having roster control.

As for my take, I think he would win at a high level anywhere, albeit potentially subject to some shortcomings that really could matter in some top 10 heavyweight matchups (e.g., clock management). Probably could deal with those if needed. His best value is winning at a place like WSU where most coaches couldn't, but I think he'd be winning at a high level wherever he went, including at a blue-blood. I'm glad enough people still think that isn't true to, hopefully, prevent him from getting those offers.

Florida State doesn’t need to worry about finding someone who does more with less. They have more and more in terms of money and recruiting pipeline.

I’m thinking about this from FSUs perspective. Bob Stoops or Leach? Stoops, easy. Fleck or Leach? Fleck. Venables or Leach? Venables.

Another thing to consider is how the FSU boosters, who are unbelievably involved in the programs decisions, will react if they bring in a 2nd consecutive P12 coach from the Northwest.

FSU made that move to position themselves into the Urban Meyer sweepstakes.

very true, But if Urban chooses USC (or Notre Dame, a dark horse if Kelly leaves for NYG) then FSU will have to go to Plan B.

Yes, by far Urban is FSU choice #1, but SC very likely will get Urban first, if they go in that direction. Just depends what USC decides upon....

It is amazing with all of his success, that Coach Leach is still underrated. I hear so called experts like Wilner and Klatt give Petersen a pass time and time again and then when giving praise to Leach, it is always followed up by a "But."

There are things that I wish Leach would do differently, but there isn't a fan base anywhere that doesn't question decisions of the head coach.

I think Leach is smart enough to understand he would have to be different in a few areas to be in line with the NFL rules.
