Game thread. Americas Team vs. fsu

We're gonna get worked in this game, but I like how the defense is hitting. That's a good sign for 2023.
They’re making decent contacts…on the plays where they’re not biting on fakes and ending up 5 yards behind the play.

Hope so. Ward was anointed from day 1 because Morris was here. His performance this season doesn’t warrant that. Add the fact that he’s shown zero improvement, and the job should be wide open.
If you’re watching this game and you think ward gives two shits about being on the field I’m not sure what to tell you. He’s gone. And if he’s not he’s not the guy that should be leading this offense next year.

Bench Ward now. Bad enough we ran that damn tunnel screen, but he throws it with no velocity at Bell’s feet. Then he has no idea where he is and runs out the back of the end zone. His talent was oversold, his awareness is shit, and his head isn’t in the game.

He cant play. Overwhelmed all year. His ceiling is FCS football. There should be a fair competition this spring. No more kids being given starting spots because they know the coach.

We have. HS OL. What is Ward supposed to do

It is a fair assessment. However, the OL doesn’t throw the ball, decide where to throw the ball or need to have awareness of where the back of the endzone is.

While there is plenty of room for improvement on the OL, removing all accountability from the qb is ridiculous. Ward can’t play because he can’t play. Give him the best OL in the nation and it still doesn’t change his bad decision making or bad throws.

He could try not staring down his receivers, and maybe throwing at their hands instead of their feet.

Our OL isn’t good, but they’re not the reason his passes are getting batted down, or the reason he ran out the end zone.

At this point, I hope he does transfer again. I’ve seen enough to know he’s overrated and doesn’t belong in P5.

Go full fledged Buddy Ryan on the team, pull CW, take the OC from "the future HC" and put Mateer in.

I wouldn't bench Ward, personally. Xavier Ward transfered out. We just lost Leavitt to Michigan State.

Bench Ward in this game and he's gone. That leaves us with Mateer and nobody else in 2023. What you do is keep Ward in the game and open up the competition in Spring and Fall camp, and if you make a change, you announce it the week before the 2023 opener.

Maybe that's deceptive, but you have to be in this portal era. We need Ward and Matter on the roster next season.

Wards decision making is my concern. On the safety, just throw the F-ing ball out of bounds and live to play the next down. His experience at UIW and this year at WSU doesnt seem to have helped in this area.

Let him go. We know what he brings, and it’s no better than 6-6….and that’s if we can replace the pieces we’ve already lost. There are QBs in the portal that are probably better, and will know that they’ve got a good shot at starting immediately. Also lets freshmen know they’ve got a chance to start immediately.

No reason to keep him knowing what he brings, and that we want better. If he walks, fine.

He could be in the portal headed to UNT tomorrow. Never know.

If you're Dickert and you roll into 2023 with Mateer and nobody else, you're one injury from a 1-11 season. Trust me, coaches are aware of that.

And this offensive line today is ridiculously bad. It's the worst I've seen since the Wulff era.

I cant see any incentive to attend these lower tier bowl games at all anymore.
