Was it just me, or did the crowd swell again for the picks at the end?

I don't think I've ever watched an entire Gameday before, but didn't miss a second of this one. Even without being there, that was fun.

As much as I like Herbstreit, screw him for picking the ducks.

I’m pulling for you guys. We are pretty much copying your tradition and are flying UCF signs and or flags at all gamedays now. Two signs today and normally a bunch of flags though I didn’t see any amongst the sea of Crimson today. Go Cougars!

There were two flags there actually. Certainly a string showing for UCF.

Some Gameday thoughts from halfway across the country

1) smaller than expected turnout but the folks that came absolutely brought their A-game. It was the perfect location for Gameday with the rise in the grass really showing off the crowd nicely. 6 am is a rough start time and my appreciation to the folks that did it.
2) Some excellent signs that I would have never envisioned. The Costanza one was epic.
3) The popcorn guy segment didn't really seemed like it should work since the guy doesn't want to be outed publicly, but having everyone chug popcorn was brilliant. Kudos to the "talent" for being willing to be silly. The segment will go down as one of my favorite ESPN bits.
4) For the people that wanted to see Steve Gleason do picks....it's pretty obvious that the video tribute was the right way to go.
5) One of my friends that was there claimed that he saw Klay Thompson there........
6) I can't help but think that ESPN is going to make sure to find an excuse to get to Pullman again.

Great job by our fans!

Out of curiousity, I did a search for different gameday videos to see how our Gameday compared to some of the other venues. I don't know if it was the sea of flags or just good ol' fashioned give a damn, but comparing replays from Seattle, Eugene, Columbia, Fargo, and others, the atmosphere in Pullman was electric in comparison. Great showing by the Cougs.

I think, as long as we keep winning, ESPN will definitely be back. And I know our fans will meet the same gold standard set yesterday.

Besides Washington State, your sign, the UCF sign- stood out the most. Great job with that perfect sign and location. Tons of exposure Saturday.

http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings/

I found the site above that tracks weekly ratings of some college football games (ESPN, ABC & Fox primarily) and it included College Gameday. It does not have the Week 8 numbers yet. Week 1 to Week 7 varied between 1.6 million and 1.9 million viewers for College Gameday.

If the 17% bump referenced above is accurate, that would put viewership at 2.16 million. The only Gameday viewership from last season that eclipsed that was the Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn.

Looking back at earlier season's bowl games, it's interesting to see that only 1.613 million people watched us play Michigan State in the Holiday Bowl but 4.046 million watched our game against Minnesota. I wouldn't have expected that.
