Anxious to see some of the new guys. Rodman and Williams are intriguing to me but it sounds like they are more projects with upside than contibutors this year.

I think Elleby could have a great year if he totally buys in. Last year he got out of control late in the season, and he didnt really have a clue on D. I think he has all the tools to be a lock down defender and not sacrifice his scoring.

Kunc is the other guy I am anxious to see. He could be a big time scorer at some point.

Sounds like Williams could contribute this year with Rodman more down the road?

A lot should run through Elleby and it will be interesting to see how he handles it.

Kunc's development is about his strength. He definitely didn't mind mixing it up but he was too weak. He probably is the best pure shooter of the returners.

I think Shead is a key player and Markovetskyy needs to find a role off the bench. It will be interesting to see how the minutes between Bonton/Cannon and James/Henson shake out over the year as well.

4, FOUR STAR, Noah Williams, son of Guy Williams, who is freakishly athletic, talented, who has BLOODLINES, who has AWESOME STATS, who has AWESOME AWARDS, ACCOLADES, was playing in, with Elleby, in the Jamal Crawford Pro Am with some of the better, best players, where he Williams IMPRESSED EVERYBODY at the Pro Am.

Then Coach Smith, said that Noah Williams was 1 of 2 biggest, most impressive surprises.

Based on all that combined, Williams either is not or should not be a project, and Williams should not only contribute, but contribute well.

I predict, expect that Williams will probably play about 9 to 27 minutes per game. 7,8,9 minutes minimum. 23 to 27 minutes Maximum. And produce about 5.5 to 10.5 ppg. And 2,3,4 rebounds per game. And 2,3,4 assist per game. Worst case scenario he plays 4 to 8 minutes. 4 ppg, 1 rebound per game, 1 assist per game.

It'll be an interesting year for minutes. Smith has both said he likes the guys he brought in (and they are surprisingly good), but every coach says this. Jaz Kunz was talked up as the best player in the class last year and Isaiah Wade was also given high praise. Neither contributed as much as Elleby or Cannon. I put more weight behind Smith's comment that he'd like to redshirt everybody. Reading between the lines, he doesn't see anyone who is an instant impact.

I certainly don't see Smith adding a senior guard if he saw Williams as some kind of day one difference maker. I don't see him as higher than fourth in the PG rotation now. Rodman is in a similar situation. Not sure where his minutes come from.

Also, are they having a closed door scrimmage with another team. I hadnt heard about one

I think Smith is just adding talent regardless of if Williams or any other player is ready to play or not day one. The major thing about bringing in a player that is a senior is that he is gone after this year. So, they can recruit to an open spot on the roster. It also makes practices better, as there are more better players to practice against.

OSU actually had an exhibition game tonight vs. Carroll College of Montana (not a closed scrimmage, I believe). Beavers won 79-60 but only led by a point at halftime. I think Carroll College is NAIA.

Glad Cougar

They are indeed NAIA. Watched them play many times down in Lewiston. Reminds me of the way we have struggled with LC in scrimmages.
