I haven’t sat down to fully contemplate where this soccer victory fits against other big Cougar wins but I’m thinking probably the 97 Apple Cup compares. We were set up to finish pretty high nationally that year with a win over Michigan.
The emotions I felt after that ‘97Apple Cup were much stronger than after this soccer game but that is partially because I’m a football guy and at the time I was sure that we would not get to a Rose Bowl in my lifetime. I was also in fusky stadium that day. I was 32 at the time.
Have we gone this deep in any sport in the last 25 years? There were many T&F dual meet championships back in the day and I seem to remember our rifle/shooting team winning a national championship back in the 80s. When was the last time a Coug squad went this deep?
