Gonzaga loses

Never been much of a BYU fan going back to Jim McMahon (well, I loved McMahon with the Bears) and Danny Ainge. I didn't see the game but glad someone in the WCC took them out. GU is really good this year though and should make a deep run in the Tournament.

I am hoping for an upset in the WCC tourney, dropping them to a 3 or 4 seed and then a first round NCAA loss.

Because I hate them, and their low class, smug little fans (remember the "Casto can't read" chants?). Because they cruise through a shit league every year and get great seeding, and they ain't that great. Because just like BSU and football, their entire University identity is their basketball team.

Certainly not because I am a bitter, jealous loser who can't stand the success of others! :D

There's this bar in Spokane called "Gonzaga Basketball". It's awesome, but you have to leave after two rounds.

I kid, I kid.

Gonzaga has a great basketball program, and a great team this year. They could win it all.

While there is certainly something to that last statement, there are some deep seating reasons behind it for us Coug fans. Its ultimately infuriating to have a pretty competitive team through the mid 80's through the mid 90's, only to watch it get completely destroyed by Graham and then watch Gonzaga pick up the pieces (and recruits) and build an elite program under our noses because the goddamn AD/ president couldn't be bothered to put a winning product on the floor.

Gonzaga has a very solid team. Perhaps the loss is the best thing to happen to them. Complacency may have set in and having a double digit lead in the second half made them think it was just another day at the office. We will see how they react to the loss.

I get as tired of the Spokane fans as anyone but not sure GU ascension had much to do with the demise of WSU hoops under Graham. He was a terrible hire who wouldnt have gotten a second interview but for the arrogance of our AD.
