ASU is well coached and fringe tournament team! If we beat Arizona we might be dancing. NIT is more probable! GO Cougs!

Big win and it was a must to keep Tournament hopes alive. Beat UA and we would have 1 really good win and some ugly losses but if we beat UA and Cal how could they keep the fourth place team out?

Get UA (or ‘Furd), Cal, and 1 Pac 12 Tournament win and I think we should be a lock.

They have some good wins already. At Gonzaga, at Colorado, Oregon State and now ASU. Their worst lost is to a 22-3 Stoney Brook who replaced Cornell the last minute. Their problem is they have been blown out by the really good teams. Stanford, NC State and Oregon. I think they’re in and should be in. Their Net isn’t good but that’s because they lose big and win small. But they currently have 4 wins over teams in or on the bubble right now.

Agree we should be in, but our NET is still low at 65. Beating ASU improved it, but ASU is still much higher because of the Oregon and UA wins. As you said the blowouts and Stoney Brook loss are throwing off our optics.
Pac 12 should get 6 or 7 teams in. We should be in but getting UA would definitely help our case and we can't take a "bad" loss to Cal, and they gave Oregon trouble last night.

Yes- the December scheduling was bizarre and may cost us a bid. The road game against BYU was guaranteed to be tough, but why schedule a second road game in Ithaca 24 hours later in the middle of December against one of the worst teams in the Ivy League? Nobody plays cupcakes like Cornell on the road- there is absolutely nothing to be gained. To make matters worse, when Cornell bailed instead of rescheduling later with a Big Sky team like Eastern, we insist on scheduling ANOTHER cupcake team in New York 24 hours after BYU, and the inevitable happened.

Why are we traveling to New York to play cupcakes? Unless we are trying to recruit New York, we can schedule closer to home, and give the girls a day or two to rest between games. Plus, cross-county travel in December can be risky, never mind we were in the middle of a pandemic. I would love to hear an explanation behind all of that. Any successful coach in any sport can tell you that scheduling is right behind recruiting in importance towards building winning programs.

The game in NY was a last minute replacement game I believe

The problem was scheduling Cornell in the first place. Why would you schedule a game at BYU and then one in Cornell less than 24 hours later. The rationale for playing Stony Brook was that all travel arrangements had already been made. Not sure if that made sense either. It's a long way from Ithaca to Long Island.

Big game today. Tender has been on fire and likes to play defense. Wallach has been I impressive and Bella has some really nice lost moves whereas she was a guaranteed turnover the last two years if you fed her in the paint.

Very impressed w Coach E.

Haven't seen as many games this year a so would like but I have watched all the highlights. Hopefully I can catch todays game down here.

It's doable... especially if KWL can play like she did against UCLA and shoot above 50%

Solid start but 7 turnovers. Way too many.

Bella and Teder combine for 14 1st quarter points on 6-8 FG.

End of 1st: 17-18.

Ethridge > Barnes today. We had a good gameplan on both ends.

We were able to get Bella good looks early and much of the game. Same with Teder and CL-W/KL-W did enough. The defensive gameplan caused UA trouble the entire game.

The Cate Reese injury really took the wind out of the game for about 5 minutes. It seemed to impact us more until we came on again late and put the game away. Brutal and unfortunate injury. Reese and Sam Thomas are 2 of my favorite non-Coug players in the conference. Hope it looked worse than it was but it looked really bad.

We should be in, but we need to give Stanford a game. Cal is suddenly playing better so that won't be a walk through either. They gave both Oregons a game this week.

Great win today. Guaranteed 4th regular season at worst.
Looking at remaining schedules if we were to lose out and Utah won out (UO/OSU @ home) I think they would move ahead of us based on win percentage. They would get the 4-seed assuming UA was able to win 1 more game (LA schools @ home).

Yeah that's right. I was just looking at the GB column. Hopefully we get Cal. Stanford's probably too tall of an order.

Glass half full post, with Stanford able to come back to beat Oregon we end the weekend tied with Oregon for 2nd. Oregon obviously has the tiebreaker but a lot to play for next week with the 2 through 5 seeds on the line.

You should be a sports writer for women's ball. Great stuff.

I texted Ed how I am in awe of what the coaches have done with Bella.

While Teder has had a good shot, the trainers have made her a heck of a lot stronger...and she is tenacious in D...and an assassin in O

These teams remind me of the good Butler teams

Teder has really opened up the offense. She's been the key the last 4 games. When she shoots well, we play well. Last 4 games Teder shoots 21-41 overall but 13-24 3FG. That's good shooting but for the "stat guys" that's an eFG% of 67%! When you have to account for her and CL-W that opens it up for everyone but especially Bella.

When you add the defense Teder plays, she's become a really good compliment to CL-W. I agree with what BrentH posted in another thread about our shooting. It hasn't been good. The last 4 games though we have shot much better. We do that, keep playing strong defense (and cut the bad TOs) we can compete with pretty much anyone.

I agree with your early sentiments about UA. I really like Barnes .and their program. It was pretty heart wrenching to see Reese go down. I had to fast forward thru that.

I think the coaches have a lot of respect for each other. Both teams grind and play D

My criticism at half was I think we had a few too many no look passes and cross court passes due to being unselfish...which is not a bad thing. Just needed to reel that back in .which we did.

How about Sarvers minutes? Clutch

Definitely good minutes from Sarver. Hit the 3 on her first shot, a couple free throws, and solid on defense. Clarke didn't score today but a couple assists, and I believe a block. We need the role players to hold their own and give the starters some rest.

Agree on the cross-court passes. Can't do that against most but definitely UA. There was also some interior passes that were forced. One time we had what looked like a straight pass to Ula for an open 3.

We were better with turnovers in 2nd half but that's an area we really need to get better.

Really fantastic win today. At this moment in time we are in second place in the PAC 12, which is insane. The secret sauce is definitely getting Teder to shoot, and then shoot, and then shoot some more. My only critique is this pattern late in games where we are trying to run clock and we pass up good shots and end-up with shot-clock violation, or a turnover, or something ridiculous. I would take the good shot with 10 seconds left on the shot clock rather than the impossible shot with 1 second left. Plus, with Reese out we might get the rebound (actually did get a few).

Seems like we are a lock if we beat Cal, or get a win in the Pac12 Tournament. Very good chance for the first night bye and a game against a lower seed on day 2.
