Smith may be using an uptempo offense to compensate for lack of shooting skills, hoping to get points in transition. That's something EK tried too, but without the emphasis on defense. Unfortunately, you are right, Jourdand. The defense has not been good, especially in the second half in games. I don't know if it's not sinking in yet or the players we have are not as capable of playing sustained good defense due to size and/or quickness....but something has to change or improve otherwise wins will be few.
One positive last night was Markovitskyy getting 6 offensive rebounds in limited minutes, along with a couple of baskets. Negatives include Noah Williams and Tony Miller both having 4 fouls in just 5 minutes of play. Hoping for a better result this afternoon vs. Old Dominion.
