He’s not a perfect QB by any means, but I love the way he plays. If we can hang onto him, we’ll be an exciting team to watch, which is exactly what we need to be during these bridge years.

Well the bloom is sort of off the rose after yesterday, which may end up being a good thing. We can't come close to matching what I'm sure will be some hefty NIL offers, but if we can make him comfortable with some NIL I think he will stay.
Which brings up the 2025 schedule. We need to get that lined up before the season ends and the vultures come calling. Frankly, I think trying to fill in with P4 schools (even if away, hello Ole Miss, Stanford and Cal?) is a positive. "Hey you are going to showcase your talents against good competition with media attention." A good year and he might declare for the draft......
He under threw 2 WRs that we wide open for touchdowns, both resulted in incompletions. He’ll draw a lot of buzz, but he doesn’t throw a good deep ball, and is accuracy is average at best. Be interesting to see how teams play us now, BSU brought 5 or 6 , kept him in the pocket and dared him to beat them with his arm. And we saw how that worked.
The pick in the end zone just before the half changed the game. There was a wide open receiver over the middle for at least a 10-15 yard gain. There is a lot of blame to go around in this game, from the defense to the O line, and Mateer had a bad game. Just hope this game doesn’t set him back for the rest of the year, like the UCLA game did to Cam Ward.

Redshirt Sophmores don't usually declare for draft.
Juniors, Redshirt Juniors are almost always the earliest to declare for the draft.
He’s talking about next year where he will be a redshirt Jr. and he has a long way to go to be draft ready. More so than Cam at this point as a passer.
And...the draft is no longer the only concern. Any player can leave at any time because they want more playing time, like a coach better, like the system better, like the weather better, or just because they feel like it. Honestly, the draft is a relatively minor concern for losing kids from WSU. The perception of greener pastures is the bigger problem.

Mateer has incredible talent and field command. He just needs more reps.

Honestly, I don't care about his draft readiness. He's the type of athlete that gives us a shot to win most of the games on our schedule.

Saw that. Sounds like it could be $100K or more? Not sure how they justify that marketing and revenue wise, but great on them. Nice to see WSU actually being able to identify NIL partners. I'm not sure that I have read anything anywhere that identifies specific NIL donors. I mean Nationwide.
Rumor was Timme was yanking up to $2 million in NIL in total - and a good chunk of that was with NQ - about every other commercial was he and Mark Robbins.
Not sure Mateer has that kind of leverage but $100k+ for the tribe is rounding error on one day’s receipts

He’s also, unquestionably, becoming one of the top performing underclassman quarterbacks in the country. Phenomenal upside.
Well I would certainly say that if he keeps this progression and production up, he's gonna give minshew a run for his money on most popular Coug ever. That's all I have to say about.
