Him and Kent have history together. Kent gave him his first job. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities. Kent has $650K in the pool for assistants. He could easily pay Payne $400K while the other two getting paid a respectable $125K each.

I think Greg Graham is already getting a hefty paycheck to be one of Ernie's assistants. Doubt there would be enough of that $650 K to satisfy both him and Payne even if Silvy coaches for free.
