When those two schools are the choice, many times (not saying it's true in this case as I don't have first hand knowledge) it's grades. Couldn't get into USC, couldn't get into WSU had to go somewhere.
Consider many of the Seattle-area prospects who choose the EWE. Bunch of mama's boys.Originally posted by longtimecoug:

You must not be aware of the easy admissions standards at Washington State, which are very comparable to SJSU and SDSU.Originally posted by longtimecoug:

It could still be a grade issue. Could be he didn't have the grades to get into either, but SJSU had a special admit to give, while WSU didn't.Originally posted by Britton Ransford:

I try not to be this manifestly ignorant, but isn't it accurate that Prop 48 kids can still be eligible under baseline NCAA requirements, but can't be eligible at Pac-12 schools? I thought Prop 48 allowed one partial qualifier per year, or something like that, but the Pac-12 clamped down on it around 1998 or thereabouts.Originally posted by Fab5Coug:

Have to think something was up, otherwise losing a commit, straight up, to SJSU is a pretty tough pill to swallow.
If the staff doesn't see him making it in at all, I can see why on not signing him. We need contributors, so if he isn't gonna qualify to NCAA standards, then save his scholarship for somebody who will.Originally posted by Britton Ransford:
