No more watching bowl games and ACs live.

I'll record and watch only if we win.

This starts with the Alamo Bowl. I have no reason to believe the outcome will be different than the past two duds.

I hope I'm wrong.

Anyone else have this same bad feeling?

Edit: Winping is similar to wimping...only it's a more extreme version. :p

I always love watching the games.

The Apple cup basically is just program disparity between two programs where 1 has a monumental lead in recruiting and financing.

The gap is closing. I still enjoy that.

As to the bowl games we have a new QB this year from the last 3 bowls.

Also... no snow in the dome. I am looking forward to this game and am excited to watch it.

For a results bottom line guy you sure make a lot of excuses for that game .

This is a new team, and I think the Apple Cup stung. Gotta believe Gard and Co. aren't gonna roll over for this one. They want that 11th win. Iowa St. won't make it easy tho. I'm def watching live, but I sure as hell ain't throwing a big party or outfitting myself in Coug gear head to toe and hitting the local Pac12 bar friday night.

You need to suck it up, buttercup!

Walden disease strikes again. The Apple Cup is only one data point in the season. 10-2 is a pretty successful season in a rebuilding year. Only a Walden apostle would invent reasons to be cranky about this team.

Are you also hoping Walden dies soon so you can be glad he's dead? How about George HW Bush? You glad he is dead like your leader is? Want to make sure where we should place you in the hierarchy of a-holes.

I don't celebrate anyone's death. That's a douche move. I also don't show up here looking to rip Leach's on field results. This is also a douche move.

I'm doing the same. Call it what you will, but I honestly don't need those huge let downs consistently in my life.

Show up, be competitive, I'm in.

Get destroyed every single year, you're going to lose my interest. Sorry, not sorry.

I am results driven AND a realist.

Leach is doing a lot of positive things for the program in an overwhelming majority of games.

I would feel the same way about Walden if he produced 4 winning seasons in a row as well as bowl games... but he didn’t. He lost a majority of Apple Cups AND he lost a majority of games almost every year.

If Leach just won the Apple Cup but lost most of the time I would not be happy with him.

Winning most of the time - my number 1 requirement which Leach has delivered on tremendously.

Apple Cup - nice to win, but far from mandatory in determining success given the large disparity that coaches like Walden and Wulff created.

That’s how I judge.

LOL, who can rip on Leach for his results? He’s been *literally* the best thing that’s ever happened to WSU. The best coach in the Nation over the past 5 years.

Observer trashed Moos who got us Leach
CougEd and his brother and Flat trashed Leach all during the rebuild
Jim Walden declares publically that Mike Leach was “insulting his profession” and didn’t like him
Jim Moore trashed Leach so much that Leach canceled the Coach’s show with him

Basically that’ll some up the idiots who never actually really wanted WSU to have a success.

They basically had their head up their own ass or each other’s ass to actually know what a winning successful program looks like.

Fast forward 7 years and Leach is going after setting the program single season record with a Johnny Unitas winning QB with Heisman votes with consecutive all American players, producing NFL roster players and draftees every single year beating the Nike money machine 4 years in a row Stanford as well, USC 2 (should be 3) out of 4 while fielding a top 25-1/3 defense.

What can I say. Some people sit around and wonder why WSU has struggled for so long, and others know exactly why and if people want to see it for themselves just as CougEd,Observer,Flat,Walden,Jim Moore etc. to look in the mirror.

No sane person who loves WSU and wants it to succeed trashed a guy like Leach the second he walks in the door, or clings to unqualified perennial losers like Wulff/Walden, or hates on an AD who did nothing but hire one of the most successful football coaches in our history while constructing a beautiful Gameday experience and desperately needed facilities.

Only idiots do that.

Have those people made criticisms of Leach over the past 5 years? If so, it’s ludicrous. There were times during the 2012 and 2013 seasons when a lot of us questioned things, but from 2014 to now. It’s not even a talking point. Shit, if people want to talk, let them. We’re winning 8-11 games a year. Case closed.

Sad Group Many of You Are That Claim To Be Cougs. You deserved Wulff & 9-40 & Not this 2018 Team.

Go F’n Cougs

One can be an average coach and a quality human. They are not mutually exclusive.

Depends on what your metric is for a human being.

If being so self absorbed that you screw over a public institution with a hundred thousand plus alumni costing it millions in revenue and have it perpetually embarrassed on television so you can hear yourself talk and feel important...

Eh that’s tough to say that is a quality human being. That looks like narcasim to me.

Ok just stop this. NO ONE is trashing this team, or this year, or this coach. Sure as hell not me.

Quit reading the shit spewed out by the "I'm glad he is dead, and hope he dies so I can be glad again" asshole and his little dick band of followers.

There is a difference between arguing ancient coach history and getting down on current teams, coaches, or supporters.

The first is a waste of time (when you are arguing with a complete waste of a human being), and the second is not happening here. So stop inventing.

I’d love to see a sticky thread with stats on how many threads have turned into Walden/Wulff “true Coug fan” dick measuring contests: how many overall, who started it, how many posts in, etc.

The instigator gets negative points but the people who keep it rolling also get a few, if lesser. After a certain amount, you get a 1-week ban. After hitting the next phase of negative points, a 1-month ban. Then, ultimately, a permanent IP ban. This board would see addition by subtraction. Imagine dozens of consecutive threads not rehashing personal feuds 99% of posters don’t care about?

Who could object to this? @ScottHood let’s make it happen.

The problem with that idea is that Paul Wulff remains the single most important figure in Cougar Athletics this century.

I will not make exceptions or concessions to allow .430 / .184 coaches to be on pedestals “representing WSU” or heralded for their “greatness”. Regarding the football program after they were shown the door.

They are neither “experts” nor insightful in the year 2018 and beyond.

The loser doormat days for WSU are over.

No other program in the country has such ridiculously low standards or love of failure.

Don’t want to hear me tell people the reality of Walden. Don’t bring him up. It’s 2018.

You do realize that none of us really care about “what you will not allow”? People who argue with you on here do so just because they are bored and for no reason beyond that. Your rantings about Walden are just shouts into the void that are meaningless.

As I said before, I agree with you on the idea that WSU let a guy who had lost touch have a microphone too long, but you need to just get over the fact that no matter how many times you insist that Walden was a failure at WSU, you are wrong.

You can make all the sig pics you want, but Walden will always be a more important, influential and positive member of the WSU community than you, even if he’s kind of a senile old bastard these days. You say not to bring up Walden because “you’ll tell it like it is”, but you fail to realize that the only thing that you are really telling everyone is that you are a clueless dick that doesn’t really know anything at all. I still can’t fathom what kind of gigantic, gaping asshole spends Christmas Day taking a dump on someone else.

If anyone needs to STFU about Walden, it’s you.

Never trashed Moos for the Leach hire. Was completely wait and see.

Ernie buddy hire, nepotism, massive debts and deficits, no bowl ticket spite list, alienating a decent chunk of Coug nation with a sh*t doesn’t stink attitude, never donating a penny...yup. Without a doubt.

Crimson matches. That’s good.

1510’ish. Laser pointer. Round and round.

No Bowl spite list is deserved bet they feel stupid now with 5 bowls in 7 years and one of the most successful spans in our history.

Deficit and debt? What? People have to borrow money in order to build things they don’t have because of incompetence like Wulff and Walden? Imagine that.

Ernie Kent was a terrible hire yes. I don’t know exactly what Moos was thinking, but Kent did produce a .529 win percentage at St. Mary’s and a .576 at Oregon, so I am guessing that Moos thought Kent would do the same at WSU. But he’s been terrible. So yes that was a bad hire. Kent is paid way too much without results to warrant it. Probably Moos only significant error.

Bill Moos built facilities that ushered WSU into the modern era.

In 2010/2011 our operating revenue was just 38 million dollars
https://accreditation.wsu.edu/docum...1-wsu-athletics-audited-financial-report.pdf/

Last year in 2017 it was 64 million
http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/

That’s a growth of 26 million dollars.

Now before people say but but the Pac 12 deal.

The Pac 12 dispersed 30.9 to schools in 2017
(Set for 33 million in 2018)
https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/06...d-and-getting-worse-as-the-big-ten-cashes-in/

In 2011 the Pac 10 dispersed just 6.7 million to WSU. (We did not have equal revenue distribution at that time) http://blogs.mercurynews.com/colleg...nd-basketball-the-conference-revenue-figures/

So taking into account the Pac 12 distribution from 2011 and today. We are making 24 million more dollars from the conference.

And Bill Moos as AD increased WSU’s revenue by 2 million dollars / year without the conference money.

He served for 8 years as AD a 2 million dollar per year revenue increase over his tenure is worth 16 million extra dollars to WSU.

He was paid 455k / year. So subtracting that over 8 years (3.6 million)

Bill Moos made WSU 12.4 Million dollars.

Where is your 12.4 million dollar contribution to WSU?

This applies to Stanford and Oregon too, but we have been able to beat them a lot lately. The difference is coaching.

Indeed because UW has a good coach it makes us have to work extra hard to close the gap. I am confident we will get there, but Petersen is making it a pain in the ass

Are you saying Peterson is a better coach?

Are you saying Peterson is a better coach?

I am saying Petersen is a better coach than Shaw or Cristobal/Helfrich/What’s his face now at Florida State

He has taken advantage of his advantages making the step towards consistently beating the Huskies more difficult and a more time consuming process.

If CP was such a wizard of a coach with all of that talent he’d have found a way to have a better conference record than Leach over the last 4 years. Especially having won head to head all 4. Sometimes shit happens you can’t explain.

He has 2 conference titles in that span while Leach hasn't even won the division...

Have a feeling you don't like our coach...

Or are you just being blunt in our coaches failures in comparison to our in state rivals coach?

I like our coach a lot, but not to the point where I am going to be completely dishonest about what he has achieved vs what Petersen has achieved. No one here would or should prefer "better conference record over the past 4 years" over 2 conference titles.

And for the record, over the past 4 years, UW is 26-10 in confernce play while WSU is also 26-10.

I’m not comparing Peterson to Leach I’m comparing Peterson to unbeatable greatness. Which he’s not. Nick Saban and Urban Meyer can keep their QB from shitting themselves against mediocre teams. Peterson can’t. Our results vs UW vs the rest of the good teams in the league have more to to do with “that’s sports” than they do with facing elite coaching...QB injuries, weather anomalies, and beating ourselves in the same game year after year. Any other normal stretch without shit luck we’d have won a couple of those games (let’s say the Bender game and this year without the blizzard).

At some point the results are just who you are.
