Improved Shooting

Seems that many of those who departed weren't very good inside or getting the rock inside.

I think the key to that is the last line "getting the rock inside" working the ball into the paint or to the low post has been a challenge the past few years, so they step back and rely on the 3. Hopefully with the new and bigger guards coming in this can be corrected. If they can effectively work it in it opens up both the inside and outside game.

Smaller players can get the rock inside, it's just more challenging.

Benny Seltzer was 6 feet tall, short.

Low, Rochester, were short, John Stockton, and Tim Hardaway were 6 foot, and 6-1.

And they all got the ball inside wonderfully.

It was just more challenging.

Also even the bigger guards still struggle to get the rock inside to bigs.

That's mostly the fault of AAU, and how they would rather drive, score, shoot 3's, instead of getting good at getting the rock inside to bigs, and then doing so.

Also accurate midrange jump shooting from 9, 10, 11+ feet out from basket, inside the 3 arc, would also help 2 point scoring, and help open up all phases of game, inside, outside, 3's, post ups by bigs, etc

There is no question a small quick point guard can be an effective penetrator and passer, unfortunately we haven't had one in a while.
