"They're a good team but not Top 10 good."

"Minshew is all they have"

"Rain makes the game a toss up" (Because we don't practice in it because we have an IPF?)

"Our DB's shouldn't have a problem with their receivers. They haven't faced a defensive backfield like ours"

"The national media pumps them up because there's no one else in the P12. Wazzu is average to above average...nothing more"

I thought Cal guys were supposed to be smart?

Yeah, I read this on their free board too! That's okay.

"They don't know what they don't know", (actually most do after a little research, but this poster is clueless). He doesn't know what he doesn't know!

Well Cal is 3-1 versus the Cougs over the past 4 years, and kicked our ass last year, when the Cougs were 6-0 and ranked in the top 15, and the Cougs were favored by 10,the Cal Fans are thinking we've seen this before. Plus they just beat up on our big sister, so they are felling pretty good. However I do believe the result will be in the Cougs favor this year.

The victory over the uw seems to have done wonders for their self-esteem. We can only hope that their players mimic their fans in this attitude. Good for them.

You beat me to this, Roses. I have confidence in our program, no doubt. But it is not carte blanche, either. This is the Pac12. Any team can beat any team, on any given weekend. Recent history is not on our side.

Two of those last 3 wins were with Goff at QB. Wilcox has definitely caused the Air-Raid issues but this version appears to be a bigger challenge.

A question would be if Minshew wasn’t having a Heisman type year and Tinsley was our QBs what would our record be? Do we beat usc, Oregon, Stanford or maybe even osu without his play ?

I have no doubt it will be a dogfight this year, just as it has been the last couple of years. My original point was to the flippant Cal fans seem to have towards WSU and what our team has accomplished so far.

No that would be question if we had the same Qb from last year.If Tinsley was our QB we would have beaten the same teams with the possible exception of Oregon. Our QB play last year was mediocre at best in the Air Raid and our O line was horribly coached.

GM has a better feel for the offense than LF did and better understands what the run does for this offense and when to use it.

The more in trouble the O got into, the more Falk put the entire O on his shoulders and completely abandoned the run.

Wilcox is another coach that has CMLs number, so I don't have a bunch of confidence that we'll win. Being at home helps though.

The gambling folks have us around an 11 point favorite. A week ago the uw was an 11 point favorite over Cal. How did that go?
Again...I wasn't referring to the difficulty of the game ahead, only to the attitude of some of their fans on message boards.
We can certainly lose this game if our heads aren't screwed on right just like the ewe did last Saturday.

I guess the question is. How many points do they think their offense can score?

Yes Minshew is all we got it’s not like we have 2 of the most dynamic backs, two 6’4 tower outside receivers, a soft giant hand clutch pass catcher in Winston or a whole stable of quick talented slot guys like Calvin, Harris, Bell, Sweet, Robert Lewis.

It’s not like we have an o line that gives may a sack every 100 drop backs.

It’s not like we have a versatile speedy linebacker corp and rangy quick defensive lineman.

Or experienced safeties like Thompson and Dale.

Seriously the only real major vulnerability we have is our corners playing man. That is it. USC got enough flags to win, Stanford didn’t.

That’s the one real legitimate critique/vulnerability we have.

If that wan’t happening we would be undefeated for sure and blowing the doors off people by 30+ point margins.

We can’t take Cal lightly, but that board is as delusional as it gets.

I'm curious on where he thinks they'll find an offense.
They're thinking the weather will negate our passing attack and help their running game. Evidently they use two qb's and are thinking Garber will make less mistakes.

Actually Laird is an above average RB . Also their offense is tailor made for bad weather conditions , straight ahead running attack and a short passing game.

Cal is like facing an unorthodox boxer, on paper they may not look great, but in the actual game they can frustrate you into mistakes and beat you.

I am sure UW can tell you all about that last sentence.

That 10 point line is way too much for this game. Expect a frustratingly tight close football game.

Here’s a question.

A question would be if E.D. would’ve stayed in Indiana and not become a Coug, would we have to deal with this make believe shit to bring Down Leach & the Program despite being 7-1 & Ranked #8 in College Football Playoff Poll?

Oregon upsets Washington. Britches get big. Egos inflate. Focus is lost. Both fans and fan site posters drink the kool Aid. Oregon gets thumped by Wazzu.

You have to look at Leach’s historical record. He’s never failed to win 7 games with his players. We’d have won somewhere between 7-12 games. Gardner is a stud, but we’d be ok with one of our other QB’s as well. We’re reloading.... with that said, I have no doubt that if the right Grad transfer is out there, he’ll go back to the well. Something tells me that the QB spot here will be sought after in 2019.

I think it’s a simple case of sour grapes. Their season didn’t turn out like they wanted and ours wasn’t supposed to be this great. All I know is Cal fans will be changing their tune after this one. No way they can run with us, it could get out of hand.

So you’re saying that Cal fans on the Cal message board are confident that they can pull the upset this weekend?

Please keep us posted on this.

We'd say all the same things if the rosters, staffs, and results were reversed. Not worried about it.

Not exactly, patrol. What I was commenting on, if you were to go back and read carefully, is the level of disregard they seem to have for WSU this year.
I guess I wasn't very clear on that.

Cal has the right to be confident that they will be competitive and make us earn it.

But it’s not like we haven’t played and beat Utah, which has a better defense than Cal in terms of total yardage allowed (#7 & #17).

Watch out for Evan Weaver at the LB position. Its going to be a homecoming for him - he is from Spokane and played at G-Prep.

Weaver felt disrespected by uw and probably had a big chip on his shoulder for that game. I still expect him to bring it with lots of friends and family around but hopefully his intensity level drops a bit. WSU recruited him hard by the way and from what I understand he was seriously considering the Cougs.

No, I understand that, but that's true with every fan base. Our fans don't think there's any possible way we can lose to Cal, or Colorado, or Arizona....even though we lost handily to 2 of those 3 teams last year. That's the nature of fan bases. Blind loyalty.

Other than offensive weapons, I'm not sure what their problem has been this year. Maybe its just that the struggle to rise in a conference takes time. Cal has questionable fans, but some pretty good players.

Interesting. I was glancing at his old recruiting stuff last night and it didn't seem like he even gave WSU the time of day. Also it showed he had an offer from UW, not sure how that is disrespected?

But I don't follow this stuff closely at all, I was just annoyed that we missed out on yet another Spokane kid.

As we recruiting followers have learned over the years, there is a big difference between an “offer” and a “commitable offer”. I think uw was very soft on him, so his pick six probably meant a lot.

Just my opinion, but I think a kid from Spokane missed on WSU.
