Interesting comments on the Cal boards...

Interesting. I was glancing at his old recruiting stuff last night and it didn't seem like he even gave WSU the time of day. Also it showed he had an offer from UW, not sure how that is disrespected?

But I don't follow this stuff closely at all, I was just annoyed that we missed out on yet another Spokane kid.
He was not given an offer to the uw until later in the recruiting process. He liked the uw, but, they had several others that they were recruiting harder. When the uw missed out on those players, they offered him.

However, he had already committed to Cal and stuck to his commitment.

Just my opinion, but I think a kid from Spokane missed on WSU.

This is something that severely needs to be addressed. Though WSU hype around town this year is as high as its been since I have been here - WSU is still an afterthought when it comes to sports in this town. Its Zags above all else.

No disrespect to devout Catholics, but I've always felt that there is a bs moral high ground that jack fans of Gonzaga/ Notre Dame stand on, like:
"not only is our team better than yours, we are morally better than you because God likes us, as is evidenced by our winning record!"

This coming mostly from the Easter and Christmas crowd, of course.

Not that I care about any of that or it matters, just something that has always annoyed me about those fan bases. (Penn St as well, but I guess God handled that situation...)

The unearned smugness of Gonzaga grads is nauseating. They consider themselves a UW peer and look down on WSU. Talk about an over inflated sense of self worth.

You must be downtown too much.

Here’s a question.

A question would be if E.D. would’ve stayed in Indiana and not become a Coug, would we have to deal with this make believe shit to bring Down Leach & the Program despite being 7-1 & Ranked #8 in College Football Playoff Poll?

Who is from Indiana? Indiana was never my home. It isn't make believe. Do you believe if Birnbaum was at the helm of the 97 team we win 6 games?

Why you take this as a swipe is beyond me. Leach is coach of the year. Minshew should win the Heisman. He had that kind of impact.

The reality of it as Leach says the Pac 12 is a deep conference. No pushovers. What that means is that anyone can beat anyone. The talent difference between these teams isn't much. You with your extreme sensitivity could take Alabama to 11-1. No one is close in their conference in talent. But that isn't the Pac 12.

Minshew is that special. Falk doesn't make the game winning throw against Utah or Stanford, at least not the player his last two years.

I must ask, where does your over sensitivity come from, spending time in Texas in the 2000's or spending time in the greater Phoenix area?

BTW, nice A and M hat.

Do they know that, of the 2% of those outside the state of Washington who have heard of Gonzaga, half think it’s an STD and the other half think it’s a pro basketball team?

No that would be question if we had the same Qb from last year.If Tinsley was our QB we would have beaten the same teams with the possible exception of Oregon. Our QB play last year was mediocre at best in the Air Raid and our O line was horribly coached.

What an odd way to tie in your dislike for Falk.

Just an opinion which today s season is proving out. He is probably a nice guy but not a very good QB which irritates his worshippers. Sorry

Well that is where I work.
As does my wife. My point being, get out of Downtown just a few miles and you have a different story. Go Valley, go north. South Hill not so much. Snob Knob is appropriately named, thus their following of the Zags. But honestly, go pretty much anywhere and Zags aren't as "influential".

Well unearned smugness technically makes them a UW peer

That’s a younger grad mentality.

Back in the good old days, Gonzaga was a second tier option. Better than SCC but nowhere near the UW or WSU.

Jesuits are a different breed.

I don't doubt this used to be the case, but the Gonzaga grads in my neighborhood got at least 20 years on me. And I graduated nearly 15 years ago.

I live up north and that hasn't really been my experience at all. It's also pretty evident on local sports talk radio, the amount of disdain for WSU is mind blowing.

And tapping into my own snobbishness fo a moment - you couldn't pay me to go out to the Valley.
