Athletic guard out of Canada. He was 2015 so might be a transfer? Not sure. 247 has him with another offer from WKU. Appears at one time he was a high-major prospect taking trips to NC State and maybe Kentucky. Rivals has him with an offer from Cal. Still not sure what happened last year. Maybe he didn't qualify?

It's not unusual for kids to reclassify in order to play a year at a prep school. He went to the same academy that Capers came from. The only other offer I could find was from Western Kentucky.

He is a great pickup. He is a very athletic shooting guard who may help attract other Canadians to WSU.Sometimes these guys who go to prep schools gat lost in the recruiting wars. There was a poster here who mentioned that Kent had close ties with someone in Canada. He raises the talent level of good recruits for 2016

Interestingly he had a 3.3 GPA in high school. He also had a 39 inch vertical as a an 8th grader. He stated that he needed to work on his ball handling skills and shooting. So he may have gone to a prep school to work on these things. He had high interest from a lot of programs including NCS and North Carolina. He is a solid recruit with great upside. As stated earlier he seemed to drop off everyone s radar in prep school

Ergas was on the same team as Ben Simmons , a highly ranked recruit who went to LSU There was a lot of talent on his prep team.A article stated that he has really improved his jump shot/

I have seen his twitter where he announced his commit. However there has not been an official announcement yet and other sources seem to be mum on this .Is there a problem with the commit?

Probably waiting for the Clearing House before they announce. Canadians are always needing close looks to be sure all the things are in order. Different school system makes some of it interesting.

My guess is that it shouldn't be a problem, but we saw this with Richard Peters as well several years ago.

In terms of being 'lost in the shuffle' it might be a size thing. He's listed at 6-3" in some places and maybe programs early on thought he would be taller. Definitely an explosive athlete if he hasn't somehow regressed in that area. Seems to have good vision as well and passing ability. Highlights though so we shall see.

i have seen other videos of Ergas and it looked like he has worked on his jump shot and it looks a lot better with a quicker release.Hopefully his skill set is being improved and he may be a diamond in the rough. The point guards the cougs have recruited will help as they can get the ball to the players in their "sweet spots" which makes them and the offense way more effective. He is ultra athletic and some of his past coaching may not have been great.

One hopes that he may convince Ray Kasongo to follow him to Pullman They are both from Canada and the same area But the competition for Kasongo is heated with several teams trying to land him.

Per the other board, WSU announced the official signing. He played for Elite Academy Prep school in Arizona last year. He averaged 18 pts ,7 rbs,4 stls and 4 assists per game It looks like Kent signed a good one

Kent has the guards. He now needs an athletic big guy (Kasongo).

Happy to see 4 true freshmen coming in this fall. Maybe Ernie has learned a lesson about signing mediocre JC players. At least with freshmen, there is much more time for them to develop. Back to back strong freshmen classes would bode well for this program's future.

Glad Cougar

Agree on frosh versus JCs. If you go JCs the majority need to be "Sampson quality" recruits as a comparison point. This looks like a solid class coming in at this point. I also think from a fan standpoint excitement can build even if they are getting beat down (see Oklahoma State) as long as fans see the potential for growth and competitiveness in the future. Historically, we are relatively patient if the potential is there although that's just a guess/opinion from me.

No question next years class is huge to build on this class. Having the current players in should help to attract the recruits they are currently after. At least there is something to grow from this class if they show they are quality talents and stick around.

The recruits seem to be good character guys t whom education is important. These guys should stick around for a while
