Does not matter if ISABEL set foot on campus or not as far as determining whether Curtis Allen recruited him or not.

Rivals, scout gave WSU, Curtis Allen credit for beating out the good teams for ISABEL the 4 star recruit.

ISABEL signed the WSU letter of intent during a fancy signing ceremony.

The only reason why ISABEL never showed up, is because Kent kicked the player who is now averaging 21 points per game, probably leading his team to NCAA Tourney, Probably gets NBA drafted.

If not for that, Isabel would probably be doing that for WSU instead of the college he is at now.

So Curtis Allen gets good credit for beating out good teams for the 4 star Isabel

I agree that player evaluation is the key and not stars should determine if he is to be offered.. If a player is lightly recruited and is seen a two star player then the coaches evaluation should determine if a player should be recruited.I believe that a key example will be Kunc' who is evidently already impressing people. By the way has anyone else seen the players practicing in Pullman?

Isabell is at his fourth school if you count WSU, he is a good player but drafted? No way! He had little impact at Missouri then transferred to Drexel where he shined in arguably a lower level. He was 2nd team all league and transferred again this time to St Louis. He is not being projected anywhere that I can find as a player who will be drafted not even close. Plus StLouis played in no post season tourney last year and doesn’t look like they will this year.

First, he wasnt a 4 star recruit.

Second, he was such a trouble maker Kent booted him before he could sign. We never would have landed him if he wasnt a character risk.

Third, hes been a problem child at the next level. Booted from Missouri and transferred from Drexel. I doubt he would have made much impact here because character.

Isabell is an undersized guard who mainly scores by attacking the basket, very spotty outside shooter. He declared for the draft this spring and didn't get any interest, certainly not invited to the combine.

He did sign an LOI with WSU before Kent released him. I'm not sure what all the issues were but I think if Kent had it to do over again he might have taken a risk on him. He was far better than the four guys brought in that first year who weren't even remotely Pac 12 players. Those guys were all gone in a year.

I saw that he made the conference academic team at Drexel with a 3.2 gpa so maybe the light switched on for him. He had some pretty good schools after him to transfer.

Isabell was a 4 star according to some recruiting services. He had a lot of accolades.

Isabel probably still has his senior year.

He averaged 21 ppg. So he will probably average at least 20 to 21 ppg again, and probably 22,23,24 ppg next season

Which if he does, which he would, will probably do, he would probably be drafted.

As far as his character. He did used to have good character, and he waa being mentored by NBA pros, and he beat NBA all star pros in games, and scored about 19 to 29 to 39 points against NBA all star pros.

The problem was he was a late bloomer, which caused him to work to develop.

Then after he beat NBA all star pros, got mentored by NBA all star pros, his character, work ethic, etc, went south in a hurry.

That was one of the reasons his academics suffered.

Isabel might have been a risk for 1,2 years at WSU.

But he probably would have figured it out midway thru his sophmore year.

As cougdave said, he did turn it around.

And Isabel was by far the best player on Kent's team at that time before Kent kicked him off the team.

Now if Kent's team had been loaded with talent, then maybe kick him off team, not take risk.

But Kent's team desperately needed talent, and should not have kicked Isabel.

And if Kent could do it all over again, Kent probably would not have Kicked Isabell.

If Isabell can score 21 points per game at St Louis, he probably could, would have probably scored about somewhere between 16 to 20 ppg at WSU.

I don't blame Ernie Kent one bit for passing on this guy. I've been critical of the coach, but Kent deserves credit for putting a high value on character and good citizenship along with academics. Some things are more important to a program than a scoring average.

Glad Cougar

Isabel scored 21 points a game at Drexel not St Louis, big difference and an even bigger difference doing it at WSU. Graduating from Drexel is what I’m most impressed with, congratulations to the young man for that, it is something he will always have and will help him through life long after basketball is over. He was basically a non factor at Missouri, but blossomed at the lower level Drexel but still was only second team all league on a team that was under 500 over all and under 500 in league play.
