I know the Franklin talk is likely in jest, but he had some stuff happen at Vanderbilt that some people seem sour on still. I hadn't dove deep in to know what's what, but just a footnote.Did she go to Wazzu? Happy wife happy life!

If Dan Mullen is shown the door at Florida...is he in consideration? Would be still getting paid from Florida...a low pressure job (in comparison to the SEC) to hit reset?Walk to work.
No traffic.
No state income tax.
Not hassled at the grocery store.
No for sales signs in your front yard.
Could coach for ten years and have $30,000,000 in your bank account or more.
Create generational wealth for your family.
A good coach goes to 7 bowls in 10 years.
Last 25 years has more Rose Bowls, Heisman candidates, Outland Trophy winners and finalists than half the conference.
And this is somehow a bad job? No it is not.

Won in Starksville over a long period of time. Recruited/developed Dak Prescott.
I don't know if his offense is "innovative" as such anymore, but could do a lot worse. Didn't realize he's only 49.
13 years as a head coach in the SEC with a 103-60 record (as of now) sounds pretty good.WSU would be a good spot for him. If memory serves, guys fired from Florida don’t land amazing jobs. Illinois for Zook, directional Michigan school for McIlwain….
That would be confusing for the Texas alums, considering they're used to recruiting five star players are underachieving with them.Word on the Texas board when they were looking at Mullen (after Herman was canned) was that he was a good coach but not a Texas target since he is "the kind of guy who recruits and does pretty well with 3-star players." That may say a lot about Texas and, if accurate about Mullen, would bode well regarding his ability to do well at WSU.
They recruit football players that are actually country club golfers. That would be confusing for the Texas alums, considering they're used to recruiting five star players are underachieving with them.
They're kind of like UW but amped up a few orders of magnitude. Former glory, lots of offseason championships, lots of recruiting championships, disappointing on the field more than they'd like. Those guys openly criticize any 3-star recruits they get. That Mullen commentary was along the lines of "well, maybe he's a good performer at Mississippi State, TCU, or that kind of place, but not at a place that competes for national titles like Texas."That would be confusing for the Texas alums, considering they're used to recruiting five star players are underachieving with them.

the book on Mullen right now is that he doesn't like to recruit.
Yeah Kirby Smart was taking pot shots at him. Apparently Smart is a grinder...Mullen Lazy. Then he should go to the NFL. College football is about development and talent acquisition. If you don’t want to recruit, it isn’t for you. I can see where coaches would get tired of constantly having to be in contact with kids. Unless the NCAA puts rules in place to limit contact, this is what it is.
Neither does Mike Leach. Hire recruiters to be on your staff.the book on Mullen right now is that he doesn't like to recruit.
Agreed.. but the issue at Florida is recruiting...so maybe he doesn't have good recruiters on his staff. The fans are complaining that recruiting isn't a priority with the current staff.Neither does Mike Leach. Hire recruiters to be on your staff.
While I want them underperforming as long as possible, his sudden and early departure is not exactly a feather in our cap. Here is a guy whose jock, in the greatest ever era of Cougar football, we couldn't sniff as a DC, and they bury him for cause. You could probably argue his dominance of Leach was a lot more than just him, but that's a debate only the saddest Coug fans will bother to have.Torn on this; I don't want UW to get away with firing him for cause, and want his lame ass coaching UW as long as possible, but I won't deny feeling a bit of satisfaction regarding his unambiguous, embarrassing failure.
Lake is a two loser as far as UW gigs go.While I want them underperforming as long as possible, his sudden and early departure is not exactly a feather in our cap. I'm also in the camp of "more going on here than hit a player;" that feels like making it official stepping out on your old lady (the way you've been doing for 3 years) because she got a speeding ticket in the car you leased her.
There’s 100% more to this story. Which is why they want him to go away with his buyout even though they could probably can him for cause and he’d have no recourse. They don’t want whatever it is to leak. While I want them underperforming as long as possible, his sudden and early departure is not exactly a feather in our cap. Just recruiting won’t get it done. A strong recruiting coach for us is top 40 classes. Finding guys we can keep in the program for 4-5 years and developing then is the bigger part of that equation.WSU needs/requires a strong recruiting coach. Period.
Leaks from which side? There’s 100% more to this story. Which is why they want him to go away with his buyout even though they could probably can him for cause and he’d have no recourse. They don’t want whatever it is to leak.
If it's this hush-hush, I'm gonna guess big recruiting violations that could turn into the next SC/ORE, or SMU Lite, if they're just gonna voluntarily pay a guy to go away after 13 games - that's not even 1 season for Alabama. Ultimate damage control move here; they are scared. There’s 100% more to this story.
